Piece of trivia – when I made the 100th post on this thread, it was my 100th post on this site!

    Not Patrick Wallace?

Congratulations The Statman. (Glad to return the favour)

The other season according to my meager stats is 92/93 (Wattana, Bond, McManus, Thorne and Morgan entering)

So here is the scoreboard after round 9

    Pos. . . . . . . . Points . . . . . . Name
    1 . . . . . . . . . . 3 . . . . . . . . snookersfun
    2 . . . . . . . . . . 3 . . . . . . . . Lindea
    3 . . . . . . . . . . 2 . . . . . . . . Mitsuko
    4 . . . . . . . . . . 1 . . . . . . . . The Statman

(a reminder that there are no tied positions – when your score increases you go directly to the top of that total.)

    ROUND TEN

    Anyone?

The lowest is I think 1981-82, when there was no change in the names of the top-16.

The greatest movement is I think 5, this coming season (Hamilton returning, plus Murphy, Hawkins, Robertson and Carter) and one other season which I can't remember off hand.

If you don't include Hamilton because he's returning, then this year's 4 new names is probably the record.

    Good guess snookersfun! Congratulations.

The answer is indeed the 7 Englishmen in 1995: Bond, Ebdon, Hicks, O'Sullivan, Parrott, White and Wilkinson Even with seven out of eight the Scotsman won it!

So here is the scoreboard after round 8

    Pos. . . . . . . . Points . . . . . . Name
    1 . . . . . . . . . . 3. . . . . . . . snookersfun
    2 . . . . . . . . . . 3 . . . . . . . . Lindea
    3 . . . . . . . . . . 2 . . . . . . . . Mitsuko

(a reminder that there are no tied positions – when your score increases you go directly to the top of that total.)

No the answer is that at 1:00 BST this afternoon (12:00 GMT) we entered the second half of the year! Halfway through the 183rd day of the year!

    Let's try a snooker-related one.

    ROUND EIGHT

What is the greatest number of Crucible quarter-final positions (in one year) to be taken up by players of the same nationality?
