138 Jimmy WhiteYou play a long slow deadweight red to a corner pocket. As it approaches the pocket, a kamikaze woodlouse crawls out from under the cushion and makes its way across the table, conflicting with the path of the red precisely at the point the red gets there. The red, needless to say, veers off course, and the future of the woodlouse is uncertain. - The Statman

Congratulations Lindea. John Higgins made a 143 and a 139 against John Parrott in 1998. The first player to make two 130+ breaks in one Crucible match was Dennis Taylor in 1981; it didn't happen again till 1991 (Parrott), and not again until 1996 (Ebdon). Maybe surprisingly Hendry appears only once on the list, while John Higgins has managed it five times.
So here is the scoreboard after Round 53 (with 49 still to be complete):

ROUND FIFTY-THREE
...anyone? (bearing in mind round 49 on the five yellows has not been completed yet!)

Would I be right in saying that 11 players have been members of this group at one time or another (no more than 4 at any one time), and that the one before the last to leave it was Ian McCulloch?
If so, is it considered unsporting to use a database query in obtaining the answer?
(I'm up late thinking about snooker again :/ )

I was thinking that all of them have a career high ranking of 17. Ali Carter would've been the last to leave (he improved on it this season), and I thought Ian McCulloch before him (Clark, Wilson, Parrott, Francisco before that), but maybe not.
If I could revise my dodgy counting of last night, it looks like there were 5 in the group in 04/05, and 10 in total are or have been 'members'.

Sorry Robert, I misread your earlier post. I thought you said McCulloch was the last to leave, rather than the one before last.
In any case you have now submitted an answer and it is indeed the corrrect one.
So congratulations Robert.

ROUND FIFTY-FIVE
What was unusual about the second round of the Crucible in 2005? The last 16 is the earliest round in which it could happen, but it is 2005 in which it actually did happen in the second round.

You may be correct Lindea, but this has happened a few times before and also in this years WC, therefore not sure if its classed that unusual ?
2 that spring to mind are Ebdon/Gray this year and I remember White beating Darren Morgan 13-3 while back.Mon the Rocket

Was it that one match in round two has been played over three sessions for whatever reason?
That is, if you are referring to the second round of the tournament (qualifying stages) and not the second round of the Crucible (which is what you wrote in the question), but then the second round of the Crucible would be the Last 16, which confused me at first, lol.
