    ROUND TWO HUNDRED AND NINETY

Of all the players who have appeared at the Crucible, or will be doing so in 2008, what is the most common initials? This is BOTH initials, so for example JS for John Spencer and Joe Swail.

The correct answer will contain the winning set of initials and all the players who share them.

If more than one set of initials are joint top, then ANY example will win the point.

    Congratulations Attilahun!

A great effort from Ebbo considering he played the matches over 4 consecutive days.

    Next round?

He wasn't. His worst positions in that match were 7-11 and 9-12.

That is probably right. I know Eddie Charlton was 10-4 down against Throburn in 1978, winning 13-12; and was 12-9 down to Willie Thorne in the previous round before winning 13-12 – but not sure without looking it up whether he was five behind Willie at any stage.

I suggest for questions with multiple correct answers we reintroduce the integrity code when putting the question.

Yes, Gary Wilkinson at the Crucible missed a straightforward yellow for a 147. He was later to say that when he was later told of the financial implications he was more upset than for missing the maximum.

Is it when Reardon used the yellow as a cueball and made a 147?

Gary Wilkinson. Gary missed the yellow when on a maximum in the 91 World Championship.

A missed yellow makes me think of paul hunter and his world semifinal match with ken doherty in 2003

    best of 35 frames
hunter leads 15 frames to 11, and the 27th frame 62 points to 36 and he misses a simple yellow (frame ball)
doherty went on to win that frame and match 17-16

Did Joe Johnson miss a yellow on a 147 once?

Is that what you're thinking of?

The yellow ball Thorburn had to take on during his 147 (the first one at The Crucible and therefore memorable) which was both a distance from both cue ball and pocket.

(although the fluked red was more important)
