    The reason I put the word spot ininverted commas is that, actually, the yellow and green sit on the corners of the D and do not need a 'spot' as such.

    Yep they are the correct three names. Hopefully no-one elses answers were deleted.

    As for any earlier World Champions - it comes down to whether the titles that they won were classed as ranking events or not. When Walter Donaldson won were there many other ranking events apart from the world chapionship?

    For example the UK championship wasn't a ranking event when Terry Griifiths won it. Seems a bit unlucky for his record.

    It could also be Walter Donaldson he won the world champs but he never won any other ranking event

    Joe Johnson, Terry Griffiths and John Spencer, all three with 0 ranking events, apart from the World Champs. The diferrence is made on non-ranking events ( Joe has 1, Terry 13 and Spencer 7 ).
    I said that on another post earlier that was erased ( just like all posts in a 2 hour interval ).
