I think that what you know is that you have read that it began in 1978 - and you may very well have read that in quite a few different places. I know I have seen dozens of books repeat the same thing.
I think that 1978 may have been the forst year at Goffs - but it definitely was not the first.
Which player won, in the Crucible era, the prize for the highest break with the lowest break in Crucible history, and in which year ?

(not sure that was the lowest break in Crucible history )
"If anybody can knock these three balls in, this man can." David Taylor, 11 January 1982, as Steve Davis prepared to pot the blue, in making the first 147 break on television.
(not sure that was the lowest break in Crucible history )
Correct.

Which player to have won the World Championship has the least number of other ranking titles to his name?
When answering if you could specify which ranking titles were won and the year that will save any confusion as to whether it was a ranking title or not.
I was going to ask the same question but for non-ranking and ranking events combined - but that would probably cause a bit too much havoc. As usual if you get the question incorrect wait until someone else has a go. There is one whole point on offer!
