Because Alec Brown produced the fountain pen cue against Tom Newman at Thurston's. Ref, Charlie Chamber's deemed it it not to be within the spirit of the game, "foul, 7 away". The BA&CC thereafter stipulated that a cue MUST be 3 ft in length.

        • ROUND TWO HUNDRED AND THIRTY-SIX

What did Sid Lane do in the 1983 Pontins Open that was notable because he hadn't done it for 44 years?
"If anybody can knock these three balls in, this man can."
David Taylor, 11 January 1982, as Steve Davis prepared to pot the blue, in making the first 147 break on television.

I believe he was 70, but I won't let that deprive you of the point! Congratulations! His previous century break had been 44 years earlier.

                      • ROUND TWO HUNDRED AND THIRTY-EIGHT

Shaun Murphy famously beat Matthew Stevens at the Crucible in 2007, from five frames behind with six to play.

My question is: who has achieved the same since, and who did he beat?

                        • Very wild guess: Adrian Gunnell, Ian Preece?
