So what is the question?

I assume by this you mean that the referee called a miss and that Holt took the miss and put Davis back in from the original position?

In which case, congratulations PaulTheSoave - and rambon - I'll split the point!

Indeed, Davis was (say) 20 behind, with one red left, which he potted to go 19 behind. However, he did not finish on a colour, the yellow was near a pocket (but he was snookered on it) and he could see no safety to be sure of covering the yellow.

He therefore took on an extremely fine cut on the black, which he could see full ball, and missed it entirely - now 26 behind, as Paul said. The referee called a miss, Holt put him back in, and the same happened. Holt may now come to the table, 33 in front with only 27 on, with Davis needing snookers. I leave the room.

Normally, a referee would not call a miss when a player needs snookers, but she will in this case because full ball contact with the black was possible and Davis is partway through a potential three-misses-and-forfeit-frame sequence. Holt sees from his chair that he can't hit the yellow, remains in his seat, and nods to Michaela Tabb that he wants Davis back in.

Tabb warns Davis that failing to hit a colour this time will result in his losing the frame. Davis, nerves of steel, takes the same shot on for the 3rd time, this time snicks the black in, to go 26 behind, and then clears the colours as only he can...
