    • Ah, Dan, can you feel the warmth yet? Getting close!

      • I think it is something to do with most sessions finishing at 6 frames due to lack of time, or requiring an extra session to complete a match.
        If you want to play the pink, but you're hampered by the red, you could always try to play the brown!

        • Is it something like a first round match taking 3 calendar days to complete??

          Comment

          • Nothing to do with calendar days or extra sessions. A reminder of what we know so far:

            Peter Ebdon is the only player to have done it;
            Graeme Dott has come closest to also doing it but Stephen Hendry is 'second' on the list;
            In any year, only four players will have the opportunity to do it;
            It is nothing to do with semi-finals;
            It is relevant to the scheduling.

            • Play through the tournament exclusively in the evening, not being on in the afternoon at all?

                  Aha - we have a correct answer! Well done Dan, Peter Ebdon is the only player to make a century in the first frame of the opening morning of the championship.

                  Can you explain my comment that Dott and Hendry are closest to also doing it, depending on your definition of 'closest'?

                    Is it that Dott had a 104 in the 5th frame vs Milkins in 2003 (next closest by frame number). Whereas Hendry might have had a ton in the first frame of his match (19XX) on the opening day but wasn't playing in the morning....

                    • I think Dott made a 96(?) and missed the black to go over 100, where as Hendry cleared the remaining balls on the table one year to make 98 or 99, so Dott had a shot at a century in 2007 but missed the colour, where as Hendry has the (second) highest break in the first frame after Ebdon with 98 or 99? Something like that?

                      • Hendry made a ton in the second frame of the tournament while Graeme made an 98 in the first frame
                        Can i get a point for that? :P

                        • Congratulatons dantuck_7 and as I am in a generous mood, half a point to missneworleans for filling in the extra part.

                          Peter Ebdon is the only player to make a century at the Crucible in the first frame of the first morning of the championship - in 2003.

                          Graeme Dott came close, starting his title-winning run in 2006 with a 98 against John Parrott. Stephen Hendry made an exact 100 in frame two of his title defence in 1994.

                          So here is the scoreboard after Round 388:
