  • According to Statman it was 3:51am, but of course we all missed it...
The latest finish at the Crucible came in the 1983 second-round match between Terry Griffiths and Cliff Thorburn. The final session – at 6 hours and 25 minutes the longest single session – whose start was delayed until 8:55p.m. due to the conclusion of the previous match, finished at 3:51a.m.

    • I would have accepted a post made at 3:51 on any morning! But nobody was around, so we'll replay the point!

How many re-spotted blacks were played at the 2006 World Championship? And for a bonus point, correctly list the two players involved in each one.

          • just because Statman was here, but didn't comment, I also go for three now.
Although that sounds a bit high.
            Forget the bonus

            • Snookersfun is correct; there were three. They are Bond-Hendry, Gray-Ebdon and one other (Williams-O'Sullivan I think!).

So here is the scoreboard after Round 43:

              ROUND FORTY-FOUR

              Anyone?

              Comment

              • ROUND FORTY-FOUR

                A simple one.

A player plays a shot in which all six colours enter a pocket. The green spot is the only one available.

Question: Which ball is re-spotted on the green spot?

If you cannot answer because the scenario is not specific enough, say what it depends on.

                Comment

                • If the six colours included the green, it would be the green. If the green was not potted ie the 6 colours were Red, Yellow, Brown, Blue, Pink and Black it would be the black (the highest numbered colour).

                  • Cessy, I don't think that a red is counted as a "colour" - at least not in the context of snooker.

I would have said that the green is always placed on its spot if it is available.... I cannot see that it would depend on anything. (?)

(Other than something like the frame being conceded, and it being the last frame, so none of the balls are put back on the table.)
"If anybody can knock these three balls in, this man can."
David Taylor, 11 January 1982, as Steve Davis prepared to pot the blue, in making the first 147 break on television.

                          ROUND FORTY-FIVE

In a normal game of snooker, how many ways are there of making a break of exactly 7?

We will assume that a break cannot begin with a colour when there are reds on the table.

Free-balls are counted separately, but not every colour (e.g. free-ball red+pink counts once, not six times for the six different colours that could be used as the red!).
