    Another cryptic one.

Decipher this, and you wull have the name of a BOARD MEMBER. Like the question before, there are two stages to get to the answer, no one.

        'Fiendish Gauntlet'

The point will be awarded for the person who correctly identifies the board member AND provides a reason.
Excellent. I think you were right to say it's pretty safe to assume that I had won the point for the previous round. Now it's been awarded, I think it's mine whatever happens anyway.

So, to your question. Well, it looks pretty obvious to me... the board member can only be the one and only davis_greatest. I think it's barely worth explaining, but to state the obvious:

Fiendish > "Fiend is h" is short for "Fiend is hottest". So which fiend is found in the hottest place? Well, the "Devil is". You only said "h" instead of "hottest" to indicate that we should only use the first leter of Devil. So we get "D is". The Devil is where? In hell. So what goes in the middle of hell? All that is vicious gets sent there, i.e. All Vicious, or to use the clue you gave of only using the first letters, we get AV. Since this goes in the middle of hell, we get "D AV is".

Gauntlet > G aunt let > so this is asking Generally what would an AUNT LET one do? An aunt IS generally known as someone who likes to eat and give food to you copiously, to feed you like a lion. So we get EAT, preceded by G being short for what a lion does when it will feed, i.e. go "GR". I.e. GR EAT. Now, because the aunt IS the one known for this, and you have also used "let" at the end to sound like "Lat", short for Latin, you are asking for the Latin word for "is", which of course is "EST". So we get "GR EAT EST".

Hence D AV is GR EAT EST or davis_greatest.

        In the bag!

and Obli bought it, lol Now I am just waiting to see, if you convinced him, that you answered his question right.

            Jimmy White v Marco Fu

(Salad is green, often confused with other colours, such as white; Bryan Adams was best known for his hit single, Everything I do, I do it Fu)

            Alex Higgins v Alain Robidoux

            James Wattana vs David Roe

(Mcvities make Jaffa cakes, often colloquially called Jameswataffa cakes; caviar>fish eggs> roe - by now Vine is barely confused at all)

Points up for grabs for everyone.

anyhow I shall guess that the answer is that snooker is a fiendish sport and gauntlet is a fun computer game so therefore it is code for...

That's about one more than I expected.

I think, though, that once the next shot has been played and points awarded, the referee can't go back and call a foul on the previous shot?

but this wasnt the referee awarding the point.

THis was more akin to some drunk in the audience incoherently shouting that a point had been scored irrespective of the fact that the green, blue pink and black had all been sunk on the same shot and before the ref had a chance to restore order the idiot player has carried on with his break as if the previous shot was actually valid.
