        • Given the options left, I'll take a punt at Ronnie O'Sullivan. One would have to assume Joe, Fred and John Pulman, probably Spencer too, to have been regarded as world number one, before the days of an actual ranking list.

          This is perhaps edging my bets, giving the omission of a security code, Mr The Statman ... lol
