I found the list of snooker players birthdays, then looked to see which were top 16 who share.

They are the only two players who have met at the Crucible ON the birthday that they share. Not sure if they are the only players to have met in ANY tournament on their mutual birthday! Would take a bit of investigation that.

A very good, quick answer. I was hoping someone would stumble over the Toronto venue for the 1988 Canadian Masters, but that is some 13½º south of Aberdeen.
