That sounds like the most plausible answer yet (together with changing trousers), as he probably had a good idea whom he would be facing in the Final after beating Stevens.
But I'll guess: went to watch a video of Stevens's 147 against him in the Masters, for inspiration?

Maureen (jimmy's former wife) phoned him on his birthday and he was nowhere to be traced. harvey Lisberg who was his PR man at the time received the phone calls and finally convinced Jimmy to phone his wife which he did during that particular semi final!
Congratulations chasmmi. He had celebrated his birthday rather too well and had been violently sick the previous evening, an occurrence which was repeated mid-break in the second frame of the second day.
