      Well everyone should know what a pot is but statman does have a way with words we'll give him that

        The total number of points on the scoreboard, when all balls are potted, must be 15+27 =42. You can share the 42 points between the two players whichever way you like – 22-20 or 23-19 or whatever, but if all balls are potted then all balls are scored.

          No but I am a referee!

          This definition of 'pot' is quite logical, if you think about it in this sense: you always score for a ball that is potted. Therefore, if a foul, of course you don't score for it and by definition it isn't potted!

          (There is one exception to that – the only time you can pot a ball and not score for it – but that's for another thread!)
