      I'm not going to get involved in a slanging match but had you posted the very clear image in post #7 then I wouldn't have even posted myself. It was a very good question which invited some good debate but I stand by my first post.

        The point of this teaser was to draw the attention to the following rule:

        Section 3, Rule 16, (a): If in-hand, the cue-ball is snookered if it is obstructed as described above from all possible positions on or within the lines of the "D".
        Had I posted that picture in the opening post, I would have spoiled the teaser immediately. This way, readers have the chance to think about it and realize that there actually are positions from which the yellow is not snookered and consequently the referee will not call a free ball.

          And I for one thought it was a great teaser. And a very good spot from Statman. I'd never have got it right... Of course it would have spoiled it if csmarkus had posted the 'answer' picture straight away; as it was, he pinpointed the position of the brown and yellow exactly, in the description in the original post.
          More of the same please!
