  • free ball??

your opponent breaks off misses the reds and leaves you not being able to hit any red, the referee calls foul, but not a free ball, how is this possible.

Okay that's confused me a bit! How comes in the jaws of the pocket a free ball isn't called? Surely you can't hit both sides of any red..?

The rules state you can't be snookered by the jaws of a pocket.
              (e) The cue-ball cannot be snookered by a cushion. If the curved face of a cushion obstructs the cue-ball and is closer to the cue-ball than any obstructing ball not on, the cue-ball is not snookered.

in over 30 years of playing snooker i only managed to use this obscure rule about three times. i understand it has now been rescinded.the rule was angled after a foul. 1.put your opponent in again. 2.pick the white up and place in the D.imagine the rows this caused
