Lindrum's win in 1952 was the Billiards Association and Control Council's "official" World Championship, when he beat the only other entrant Clark McConachy 94-49, but the world's leading professionals had disaffiliated from the B&CC by then and organised their own separate world championship. Few if any therefore consider Lindrum to have a legitimate claim to have been world champion.... in which case the answer would then be four.
