  • Ssb - snooker mc to present bbc darts

Rob Walker, master of ceremonies at all BBC snooker events, will replace Ray Stubbs as the corporation's face of darts.

Walker makes his debut at the World Masters this weekend and will also present coverage of the Lakeside World Championship in January.

Stubbs jumped ship to join ESPN after it won live rights to Premier League football games.

Walker will also be part of the BBC team at next February's Winter Olympics and must surely be favourite to replace Stubbs on the BBC snooker output as well, although whether he could MC in such a scenario remains to be seen.

Prompt [ Cheering... clapping... whistling... snickering... ]

Maybe he'll get a chance for a dance with Phil 'The Power' Taylor.

Not on the BBC darts he won't - that's the 2nd division of darts and Taylor and most of the top names are on the PDC. I'm not a fan of Rob Walker either - too cheesy.

I like Rob, he's a nice guy and as an MC he does help generate an atmosphere rather than send you to sleep like Richard Beare did so good luck to him with that.

As a commentator though, different matter, didn't sound good from White/Parrott.

he has no idea about the sport of snooker ...Darts might be ok thats simple to understand but with snooker you need someone with some knowledge of these things and he had no concept of angles you need to be a success at snooker..

if the position was straight it was a good shot never mind you needed to cannon a ball for position on the next shot. or a angle to go in to the pack...

                had no idea whatsoever .

I think he will be great...he has so much enthusiasm in everything he does i hope he does do more of the presenting of the snooker coverage, i really enjoyed his coverage of the Olympics last year and his triathlon commentating is class.

He is a asset to snooker!!!!

He seems to appeal more to the younger Snooker audience with his style & personality but that doesn't necessarily mean to say that makes him a good MC..

                      Yes.... quite.

As a high school student once described in a very short story...

Yeah I remember you saying and I agree that's why I would not want him as a commentator.

To be the MC though I don't particularly think he needs to be a snooker expert. So long as he can introduce the players, add to the atmosphere and entertain then that's fine and for me he does that well enough.

I think he's great. Bright, bubbly personality and he will do a good job with the darts. It's a shame he has to cover the BBC/BDO events as they are dreadful in terms of atmosphere and quality.

He would love doing the SKY/PDC events as the crowd really get into it and you can imagine Rob feeding off that.

as a MC i have no problam with him....part of a MC Role is as a warm up man and gets the atmashere going and i think he does that job perfectly but as front man he could get annoying with his hyper hand waving "Lets get the pundits in the studio" hyperventilating style and as a snooker commentator as ive said clueless.
