Indian ace Pankaj Advani denied Mike Russell a tenth world professional billiards title tonight with a 2.030-1,253 victory at the Northern Snooker Centre, Leeds tonight.

Advani, 24, dominated the opening session, winning it 1,070-418.

The concluding session was closer but Advani also shaded it, 960-835, to capture the professional title for the first time.

I've spent quite a bit of time looking at www.EnglishBilliards.org lately and what a great site that is ...
billiards puts us snooker players to shame ... all we do is try to hit the little darlings in the holes whilst billiards players have lots of options ... a safety, a pot, a cannon or a loser (why is a loser called that by the way?)

Well done Pankaj. I expected Russell to win again. It would have been great if it was filmed but I don't think it was. It would have been great to watch.

A in-off is a 'loser' as it comes from its old name, the 'losing hazard'.

Pankaj Advani has won the 2003 IBSF world snooker championships in China.
He is the current national snooker and billiards champion.
I spoke to him couple of months back. He said that he will concentrate on billiards.But I think he would be definetly a top 50 player in Professional snooker standard.

Joe Perry played a tournament in Jersey last year, he won a group match.
Phil Mumford was a snooker pro, now one of the leading amateur Billiards players.
I read somewhere that Tony Drago also has a 150 something highbreak in Billiards, and of course there was great Joe Davis ...

Playing Billiards will most likely help at snooker in the safety & laying snookers section - as well as spotting possible in-off's
