This is great news - good to see the players` voting sensibly for a change...

Walker should be made to re-pay those outrageous commissions for "negotiating" contracts that were NEVER in doubt! An absolutely despicable affair.

Hopefully, pro snooker can get back on track, Hearn has to be the only choice now. Does anybody recall the last time a Matchroom event had no sponsor???

      Bring on the good times

This is excellent news, lets hope this proves to be the dawn of something exciting for snooker.

Hearn hopefully will transform the game like he ahs with Darts.

Will it be as easy though?
Deep it down the rail :D :D :D

I think this is good news for snooker - just the kick up the a**e it needed!!
Just hope the new Board - whoever they are - will include grass roots snooker in their new plans.
I wonder if the shredder at Bristol was working overtime!!

Let's hope that they're more amenable to working with EASB and other NGBs to foster and grow the grass roots which is essential for the game as a whole.

So what happens now, is Barry Hearn the chaiman or is there just no one in charge for now?

By now that shredder has probably overheated and they've had to bring in one of those big shredder trucks to dispose of all the evidence.

Normally, when a board member receives a vote of no confidence he is walked off the premises by security and his personal effects from his office are sent to him, but I bet that didn't happen in this case.

I wonder what Clive has to say about this turn of events. Anyone know?

Great news. I think this will be a turning point in the recent decline of the game. Hopefully they get the new board 'in' soon.

I spoke to Clive about 40 minutes ago and he was busy writing some articles for the papers but he said he would call me back later, so when he does I will let you know.

I really do hope that the remaining Board members will be brave when co-opting or calling an EGM and really try to get some fresh blood involved and do not revert to old ways of operating out of spite or retaliation.

no need, because they don't have any residence or personal effects in the office:

The best thing to happen to snooker in years.

FFS get somebody in who can market the game and take it into the 21st century. Why this didn't happen years ago god only knows.

Barry Hearn is a prime example of a forward thinking promoter/manager who will not only talk a good game but put things into action. Give that man the job.

Great news that Walker has gone, the way he left the RFL and Leicester City FC suggests he was always a divisive personality at best.

What, split it into two bickering organisations, get the main World Championship away from terrestrial TV onto Murdoch pay channels?

Don't forget, Walker was the man who essentially did the same for Rugby League, by bringing in the Rugby League era.

Hearn is no more the man for the sport than Walker is. The WPBSA had the chance to introduce the sport to the Middle East last season, but the PL is too inflexible to be re-arranged to allow three of the top players to compete. In a situation like that (where you need to accommodate the new hosts wishes in terms of timing), it is going to make potential sponsors wonder if sponsoring a tour event is worth it, if it has to cede to an event it doesn't even run.

I think the shredder went up in flames, I could see out my back window - At aprox 14.30 a massive smoke cloud gathered in the sky just above WPBSA HQ in central Bristol.
