  • Ssb - barry hearn to be chairman

Barry Hearn and Steve Davis were today co-opted to the board of the WPBSA by remaining board members Lee Doyle and Hamish McInnes.

A meeting on December 16 will install Hearn as chairman.

I think everyone will agree that Doyle and McInnes have acted responsibly in listening to the players' wishes and resolving this as quickly as possible.

It means we can start the Pukka Pies UK Championship tomorrow with the focus only on the play on the table.

Things are certainly going to change - we all hope for the better - because Hearn is not a fan of how the WPBSA is currently set up.

Hopefully everyone in the sport will pull together to give him the support he needs.

An interesting time for snooker ahead and indeed the forum too.

We can look to the future for better cooperation with World Snooker.

Congratulations go out to Barry and Steve from us all.

Well done to them in acting so swiftly and stopping the speculation. Will Mr Hearn visit Telford during the UK Champs. It would be great to see him or any other Board member at The PIOS next week - to have a look at their revenue stream!!

I'm pretty sure he would receive a standing ovation, but I believe he left for a 10-day holiday....

Yes, theres so many threads about all this, but no one seems to have paid any attention to The Nugget getting on board. He must be the best possible player to have on there, and could make the best of go betweens between the players and the board should there be any problems ahead...

I agree, it's almost passed without mention. It's a great appointment to the board, compared to where we were a few days ago and crucial. Surely any concerns people carry for the future of snooker under BH should be allayed with 'the ambassador' on board - a result
