Maybe what they should do is make it a public vote during the UK championship. Select players like Jimmy, Steve Davis, Wenbo, Walden etc and let the public award the wildcard.

It is the same as handing Jimmy the wildcard, in my opinion

Seemingly, there are a lot of people arguing about this, but in a voting, he would still get the edge..

Maybe they should regulate the wildcards.. From last season's player list, in the top 16 - top 32 bracket, pick the two with the best provisional rankings..

That would mean Walden and Wenbo getting the wildcards.. So, I'm stuck again

One things for sure regardless of if people are for or against the decision its generated lots of interest, look at how many views this threads had alone, compared to most the others ( nearly 2500 views already & it only started at 11.30am yesterday )

Just goes to show anything with Jimmy White mentioned in it still pulls in the crowds, even more proof if needed its the right decision & more importantly the right decision for snooker........

No other player would have generated this interest had they got the wildcard......with the exception of Alex Higgins back in the day......

Still can't believe all the negative comments....without the likes of Jimmy & Alex we wouldn't have a game.....& Jimmy can still play a high standard....

Maybe the players coming through should look at Jimmy White & learn to put some effort in to attracting fans........i don't see anyone taking over from him at present like he did from Alex........

You could argue Ronnie has to a point although not in the same way.............but the games desperate for a new Jimmy or Alex to come through.....

And before anyone starts......... giving Jimmy the Wildcard doesn't really stop anyone coming through....its not even a ranking event!!

But in the meantime lets just be pleased we've still got Jimmy White.....

They could use this method to collect "donations" (say 2£ per sms/call) to support snooker in every event - just let people vote for the wildcard of the closest upcoming event

Agreed...that's all matter right now...for me, snooker is pretty much "boring" without Jimmy...I think the crowd will agree with this too...

Jimmy white has done so much for the game and anyone who knocks him needs there head tested. I don't know the state of his game put I wish him well and hope he has a good run.

Totally agree............

I'd love him to do well there & i really hope he does, i'm sure he'll beat King........but regardless of what happens i'm just pleased he's there at all ( like so many of us ) anything else will be a bonus..........
