Davis played really well to win, both semifinal and final was fine snooker from him.

What people have to accept is that this is a new game played on a snooker table with snooker balls, but there the similarities end. If players like this game let them play it and don't keep comparing it to the game of snooker. This is no more snooker than 9Ball.
This is a game that any above average club player could compete in and have just a good a chance of winning. I don't know the entry criteria. Is it only open to Registered Pros? If this is the case it does not make a lot of sense. This should be an open tournament with qualifiers been held in all the clubs across England and any other countries that want to participate. Then playing regional knockouts, before being drawn against lower ranking pros, ect. This would generate massive interest and lots more prize money. £10,000is not a very big first prize.

People talk about change, then let the change being.

Because a lot of them are conservative supporters who don't want any change! As time passes we have to change something! Snooker will not develop as a sport if nothing happens! The 6 red format sounds interesting and therefore, it will attract more players around the world who wants to try the format! The 6 red format isn't a new format though, but if there would be more tournaments like the 6 Red World Championship and attracting more players to participate, I can't see why it would not be good for snooker?! The Main Tour should remain traditionally with 15 reds, no doubt! But the 6 red format has a place also!

It was an open tournament so anyone could play there, even you and me (haha!)... In fact, there were quite many amateur players - most of them based UK I think, but I am sure next event will grow bigger and better. And I hope the organizers will think about streaming matches online for all days of competition

I might be billed conservative but I'll my thoughts anyway. First, snooker is played with 15 reds. 6reds snooker is a different game and I don't see how it could help promoting the 15 reds (or shall we say 'original') version. The main thing about 6reds is that it's fast and requires less skill to win (a break of 50 is more than enough). While I like fast play, the reason I have big respect for snooker pros is because I know how hard snooker is. Making breaks of 30-40 is amateur level in snooker. I don't mind watching 6reds, but than again I wouldn't mind watching the re-spotted black world championship either. On the other hand I love to watch snooker. So all in all I'm OK with 6reds/10reds/rsb format but not as a replacement of the original version. For me, one ranking event in snooker is worth more than all the 6reds events combined.

Well it's better to have had this event over the past week than for there to have been nothing at all.

                Isn't it??
Seriously though, in the bits I saw it looked OK, but I cant see any ranking events taking the 6 red format any time soon

                  75 - 3 minutes 12 seconds, 7 red clearance

Did anyone notice this break from Mark King in the semi-final.
