Personally i am furious when are we as fans and even the players themselves going to be put first over stupid fat cat businessmen - i just want to see more snooker - players just want top play more snooker - snooker players must be idiots - absolute idiots - laughing tock if this gets rejected - i love the sport too much ever to walk away but there may not be a sport the way things are going
I don't agree that all the 110 sport players will automatically reject these proposals - far from it. Ronnie O'Sullivan has always been very vocal in his support of BH. It just depends whether he, and others who share his views, are allowed to vote themselves or whether their management insists on voting on their behalf as proxies.

On this issue I would ban proxies as in some cases the managers have different considerations to the players and what may be in their interest is not neccessarily be best for their players.

In all fairness, maybe 110sport will have influence over the lower ranked players in it's stable and with Hendry involved financially also with the Internet Streaming then maybe he will side with Doyle etc.

However I'm sure 110sport need Ronnie and a few of the other top players a lot more than they need 110sport. So hopefully all of their stable wont be swayed if indeed 110 try to influence the vote.

Has Hendry commented BH's plans to one way or another? I can't recall. I've been wondering where he stands in this.

for me voting against your own management would be a difficult concept which the majority - perhaps not ros or even allen but the others will not do giving the opposers to the plan a significant advantage - upon hearing the previous hearn vote was tight - this could tip the balance the wrong way

Just to clear up one point. People are talking about 5th May as if players are voting.

They won't be in a formal manner. It's a players' meeting not an EGM.

Depending on the outcome of the meeting then an EGM would be called to formally vote because Barry's proposals obviously would require changes to the constitution etc

              Correction

Thanks for pointing that out Janie.

Isn't it amazing how so many outside the loop are annoyed or bitterly against some players (whether with 110 or not) using their vote in what ever manner they see fit?

All players with voting rights have the right to cast their vote as and how they see fit.
Whether that is for personal, business or political reasons, then no one outside of that has any right to demand that they should do this or that with their vote and neither should they bare any ill feeling towards them if they do not vote in align with ones own personal thoughts.

Whatever happened to freedom and democracy?

Ferret made one strong point: That as long as the players are forearmed with all relevant information (not speculation, half truths, rumours or lies), then none of us should have any other input than to stand back and watch.

Let's leave those involved to it.

Well said StevieB. I only hope that Janie IS right in that the ultimate vote is NOT taken at the meeting. There's a lot of things to sort out and think about.

                  independent appraisel

The one thing I see lacking here is an independent appraisel of World Snooker. How can the players evaluate Hearns offer without knowing what their property is worth. Also isnt Hearn in a conflict as chairmanand a bidder. The players need a truely independent chairman looking out for their best interests. An example of this would be what percentage of monies earned would be payed to the players. Something akin to other pro sports.Mr.Hearn could open his books from his pool, dart, and other sporting ventures to show how fairly he is payingthese sportsmen without whose talents ther is no matchroom sports.

One thing I think would be a good idea is to ONLY allow the players to vote. No managers, representatives or anything, it should be the players decision.

Very interesting.... thanks for posting Janie!

His quote " ... deflect attention away from other individuals or the fact that World Snooker
intend to subsidise certain promoters to run tournaments that will achieve ranking status
                        ".
I found particularly pertinent to, possibly, the real reason he left.

                        =o)

there is very little doubt that lee is bitter about hearns takeover but then he would be - from my point of view anything is worth a gamble at this stage the game has been croniclly dably run for years and if barry fails to deliver we can get rid of him aswell. then it will be adr147 and ferret for chairman.
