I certainly hope Hearm does not get his hands on 51% of our sport, because if he ever found himself in a position like this where a lot of the world is treating the accused isn't being presumed innocent until proven guilty, and he finds like Mooney, he is forced to resign until he clears his name - what happens to the 51% of World Snooker that has been given to Matchroom? (That might seem like an odd thing to think of now, but if the vote goes to Hearn, it's too late to consider afterwards).

Also, NOTW haven't told us why they 'investigated' Higgins. There was no suggestion that he'd been involved in fixing before... They could entrap, set up anyone from any sport if was really that easy. They haven't given us a lot of details, and Mooney shouldn't have been that easy to trick.
NOTW is a trashy enough publication to stage something like this in return for being able to sell a few more newspapers...Tear up that manure-fed astroturf!

If Higgins had been innocent in all the proceedings surely he would have informed either Barry Hearn or some other party to inform them of what was happening??
Seems to me that with the failure of his doomed personel snooker tour he was trying to recoup a few bob !!

The NOTW said from the off the reason they investigated Higgins was because they were tipped off by an insider that Higgins would be up for something like that.
But yeah, obviously Barry Hearn has done this all as a fit-up job, carefully staging it all and sacrificing one of the game's most popular players for the sake of advertising one tournament.

Higgins got caught out and some people cannot accept it. Next thing people will be saying he tipped off the police about Lee and Maguire.
The man is not an idiot, if it came to light he was involved both he and snooker would be ruined.
Higgins is not the first sportsman to succumb to this kind of thing and I suspect won't be the last.
