  • Ssb - brilliant brecel

Luca Brecel (pictured here with Jimmy White) has become at 15 the youngest ever winner of the European amateur title.

The teenage Belgian sensation, who won the European under 19 title last year, defeated Dutchman Roy Stolk 7-4 in today's final in Bucharest, Romania.

Brecel trailed 3-1 but a break of 120 launched his comeback and he won all but one of the remaining frames.

Brecel is too young to turn professional but will surely be accepted on to the main tour in 2011/12.

Wendy Jans retained the women's title and Darren Morgan once again captured the seniors crown.

Darren had to give up his place to Peter Lines because of the clash of dates with Romania

Does anyone know of any odds for Brecel to be World Champ by 2020 (or similar?) I'm thinking of putting a bet on!

I'm sure I saw something like that somewhere, the odds being 7/1 or 6/1. Not very generous..

Last month he was 40/1 to become youngest ever World Champ.
Did a blog on this subject -- it's in Dutch, but Google Translate might help...

Wow, really? Are the bookies stuck in the 80's or what?

Couldn't see any age restrictions in the PTC Entry Pack!!! So I don't see why he can't unless he needs some sort of work permit!!

well events will be played in germany and mainland europe probably Belgium so i wouldn't think he needed permits for them.

                      Damn!
Another formerly "tried and true" snooker retort bites the dust!
If someone I beat was a particularly whinging loser I would often say...

I'm sure they were a lot better before this tournament, but the bookies (over?)reacted very quickly. I've only checked a few places though, so maybe there are better odds out there.

7-1 on Luca Brecel becoming the youngest ever world champion is boarding on lunacy and total panic for no reason from bookies.

He is simply fantastic... even Björn Hanever admits it,
so Flamish Lucas Brecel is ready for the next step
I saw that going differently in my mind
