Ssb - higgins case: Hearing date set

John Higgins will learn his fate, following allegations in the News of the World that he was prepared to lose frames for money, in a two day hearing on September 7 and 8.

The tribunal at Sports Resolutions will be presided over by Ian Mill QC.

I understand that Higgins's punishment - if applicable - will be decided at the hearing.

It is not ideal that this falls in the middle of the Shanghai Masters but a date had to be found that was acceptable to all parties.

may have been asked on another thread but who is replacing john in the shanghai masters? i know jamie cope is classed as top 16 for it but who is the extra qualifier? and what happens to them if john is found not guilty and reinstated?

My prediction is a fine and loss of some ranking points but no ban and he will be re-instated in the top 16 with whatever ranking points he has left. He might lose his number one place but he has a bag full of ranking points so he will still be in the top 4 I think

i agree terry,,i doubt hearn can afford to lose one of its biggest draws ,,,, sad but true , if he is guilty he should be barred for life , but it will be a slap on the wrist a fine and then back to business,,,

Snooker warrior, I'm not sure it's such a good idea to cast the shadow of doubt over both Higgins and Hearn and assume that the decision could be flawed.

As much as I could value Higgins’ integrity I value Hearn’s integrity more.

I´m quite surprised as well. Whatever outcome there will be, it will take a lot of focus off the Shanghai Masters tournament, just as it did at the world championships.
