Can't believe nobody's said Willie Thorne! He is the most naturally gifted player of all time and how he never won the World Championships is one of life's mysteries...

Of the players who didn't win it and who now never will, I suppose the ones who most deserved it would have to be Eddie Charlton, Jimmy White, Paul Hunter and Matthew Stevens.

Spare a thought for those top rate players who were deprived of their best years due to the slump in snooker popularity in the late 50's and 60's. Players such as Rex Williams, Pat Houlihan, Cliff Wilson, Marcus Owen.

Has to be Jimmy, no-one will get to that many finals again without winning one of them.

Paul Hunter second for me too, and I agree he would have won the World title, maybe more than once.

Ding, Selby, Carter, Stevens, Maguire, etc can all still win it yet.
I often use large words I don't really understand in an attempt to appear more photosynthesis.

Cyril - with respect - Willie's best at the World Championship was only a Quarter Final appearance! And he was playing at his best in an era when Dennis Taylor and Joe Johnson won world titles.

Everyone who watched the game in the last 20+ years know there is just one possible answer...Jimmy White. The rest, the newbies...come up with multiple answers....all wrong imo...Paul Hunter RIP, Stevens, Ding, Selby....
"There has only ever been Alex Higgins, myself and now Ronnie O'sullivan who play the game the way it should be played with such excitement - I know the fans love it this way" - Jimmy White

I've been watching almost as long as ADR, and although I say Jimmy for number 1, without a shadow of a doubt, I do think Hunter would won one given more time, hence he was number 2..
If you want to play the pink, but you're hampered by the red, you could always try to play the brown!
