I'm not sure I get the point some are trying to make here... You cant compare, in sports, how good someone is (skillset) today vs how good or great a player was 10, 20, 30 or 40 years ago.

Reason are: technology, conditions, overall health, better training techniques, etc...

Anyone who tries to make a point saying "Higgins of today would beat the 94 Hendry" has no clue how it is in sports. The standard of today, in ALL sports, will be the average standard of what sports will be in 10-20-30 years.

        That goes for ALL sports.

The only way you can compare players and come up with a top 5, 10 or 999 is going by achievements. This means WCs, ranking titles (this means winning % of games, along with how many ranking titles one won vs the amount he played), dominance of the era compare to other players of his time.

Pele was great because back then, he was head and shoulders better than everyone else. Today, he'd get his behind handed to him simply because the standard got better, better training techniques, better technology, etc...

Anyone who'd try to say Pele isnt all that great or that Messi or some other dude playing right now is "better" than what Pele was because "Messi runs faster, has a better shot (just stuff I'm making up btw)" would get laughed at.

Same apply to snooker. Compare apples to apples.

At the end of the day they are all playing the same game. Its not like we are compared snooker champs against pool champs.
