It seems that selby hit red first, If you look at the stills taken from the video you can see that the white changes course after first hitting the red and then into the pink.
Right, here it is again, the stills posted by snooker loopy. It is 100% that the white hits the red first. The white ball changes direction. Now unless there are super-natural powers going on here, physics will tell you that for the white to change direction, it has to hit something. In this case, the red ball.
I'd be very interested in reading an explanation as to why the white changed course if it didn't hit the red first.
Impossible call. I think the ref did the right thing to study the slowmos and decide in doubt for the striker. This was not the cause for Mark JW's loss though. I think he will agree after a good night's sleep, that he still had his fair share of chances after that spectacular incident, to beginn with the rather easy red left to him right away as the foul & mess was reviewed.

I agree with you 100% I have watched the video and the white clearly changes direction. But I as I saw it the ref awarded the foul and mark agreed then when he looked at the video he changed his mind. Once he called a foul and a miss he should not be able to change his mind. This would have upset me if I had been playing
