Stephen henry is a classic example of such a player, John Higgins is also approaching that age where family is more important then playing abroad and has a few bob in the bank. Ronnie's idea of hand picking players won't get of the ground but unless Barry wakes up and smells the coffee he is going to kill snooker in this country.
Death of a thousand snookers. lo

“....these are the players people want to see, the rest like Ali Carter are making up the numbers."

Can't believe he said that. What a silly boy, and nasty with it.

joneseye All I'm doing is stating my opinion. I don't see how putting my opinion down whilst promoting your own does you any favour's. By all means share you opinion but please do not put your self up as some all seeing oracle.
Only time will tell if Barry is doing the right things IMO. Just because snooker was mismanaged does not mean there was anything wrong with the product nor that Barry's vision is the right one.
        have a nice day

Yes, again displaying what a fool he can be at times. Given the choice between keeping Hearn or Ronnie I would have Hearn by a country mile.

The Problem here is .....Snooker needs Ronnie more than Ronnie needs Snooker!

I have been told they have already Offerd Ronnie a Good Few Quid to Sign! and he hasnt yet. If he has any Chinese or other Multi Billionaire behind him then Barry Hearn wont have a leg to stand on.

Hearn is doing what is in Hearn's interest. What ROS is doing is for Ronnie's benefit. It's really sad that neither the chief bigwig nor the world champion want to do what's in the interest of world snooker.
Harder than you think is a beautiful thing.

Barry Hearn doesn't Need Snooker or the Headaches it creates for him.

Barry Hearn has More Snooker interest at heart than Ronnie does Ronnie only interested in No 1 his Remarks Regarding a Fellow World Finalist proves that.

If that were true, the sport would be dead in less than five years anyway. Ronnie's not playing until he's 45.

I don't know Hearn or O'Sullivan personally but I suspect there's a lot of truth in those comments wildJONESEYE ...

Yep, snooker needs Hearn far more and I don't buy into the popular accusation that Hearn is governed by his ego. There's no evidence for it really, his responses each time a player like Allen, Williams or Ronnie have had head explosions have been spot on.

I still think this is all a planned ruse orchestrated by Hearn himself to gain headlines and make snooker take a front seat. Snooker played by professionals in a golf-style ranking system would be pretty boring without some major headline making waves every 6 months.

Hearn to sponsors: "See? See? Ronnie won't play unless you guys pay him something."

Sponsors to Hearn: "Well, I guess we can fork over a million for a tourney and give it a try but you have to promise that Ronnie will play and you need to make sure he plays in the final. Can you hire a personal assistant for him Mr. Hearn?"

Hearn to sponsors: "Welll.... OK.. let me see what I can do. I will give Ronnie a call."

Hearn to Ronnie: "OK mate, we got it. ABC will give us extra cash. Good work Ronnie. Come in and sign the contract so I can tell everyone I bent your arm. Now, we will get extra money every tourney from all these sponsors. (evil laugh). Oh, and tell Stephen to come back also. He can stop pretending he hates snooker."

I'm not sure it has created headlines.

I had the news on this morning, and in the sports bit they were discussing that David Beckham wasn't selected for the GB Olympic football team. Then they had some twat in a bad mood because the organisers of Wimbledon have 'insulted' Andy Murray by not putting him on Centre Court.

At no point in the last week have I seen snooker mentioned on anything but snooker websites and my twitter feed. Regardless of Ronnie's ridiculous statements. (Or the fact that there was a ranking event on.)
