Ronnie is right to be unhappy with the new contract. Under the new contract, if a player wins an event he has to give the sponsor 3 days of his time - expenses only . 98 players were happy to sign this contract (it wont affect at least 70 players who are unlikely to win anything). Clive says in Snooker Scene that one of these days usually last about 4 hours but does not say if the 3 days are consecutive or not. If a player wins an event in China, is he expected to make a possible 3 separate visits to that country to do promotional work? I would have thought promotional work would be between the new champion's manager and the event sponsor - with payment discussed. If a player wins an event but chooses not to defend it, is he expected to turn up a few days before an event to promote something he wont be playing in? Can someone actually come on this thread and say how this new rule in a players contract is worded? Thanks.

So they did what they should have done last year and made a common sense decision to give it to Higgins.
