If he did open a hundred chip shops, they'd be selling the most perfect, naturally gifted crinkle chips in existence! The shops wouldn't have a list of opening hours however.

I don't. I find him annoying. A tournament is more enjoyable once Ronnie gets knocked out.

I don't see how he can. The players and fixtures have already been announced.

I don't think he wants to. What's the point, he don't need the money and does need the time for family. I don't think there are ranking points in the PL, so it's no loss. Except for the fans.

Well that's weird... After all that's the kind of format he prefers to play (according to someone) and the money isn't poor either.

Sorry, I think I was wrong on that one. I guess it's just the other baggage he didn't want.

Ronnie is right to be unhappy with the new contract. Under the new contract, if a player wins an event he has to give the sponsor 3 days of his time - expenses only . 98 players were happy to sign this contract (it wont affect at least 70 players who are unlikely to win anything). Clive says in Snooker Scene that one of these days usually last about 4 hours but does not say if the 3 days are consecutive or not. If a player wins an event in China, is he expected to make a possible 3 separate visits to that country to do promotional work? I would have thought promotional work would be between the new champion's manager and the event sponsor - with payment discussed. If a player wins an event but chooses not to defend it, is he expected to turn up a few days before an event to promote something he wont be playing in? Can someone actually come on this thread and say how this new rule in a players contract is worded? Thanks.

No one is going to replace him. The players were announced some time ago, and O'Sullivan wasn't in it to begin with.

It looks like John Higgins was given a wild card to replace Ronnie O'sullivan.

Shanghai Masters Champion: Mark Selby (World Ranked #1)
                      UK Champion: Judd Trump (#2)
                      Wild Card: John Higgins (#5)
Brazil Masters Champion: Shaun Murphy (#6)
                      Masters Champion: Neil Robertson (#7)
PTC Grand Final Champion: Stephen Lee (#8)
Championship League Winner: Ding Junhui (#11)
Haikou World Open Champion: Mark Allen (#12)
Australian Goldfields Open Champion: Stuart Bingham (#16)
China Open Champion: Peter Ebdon (#20)

Yes, this was announced in June. O'Sullivan was eligible as the defending champion, the World champion and the German Masters champion, so they ran out of tournament winners to invite. It wasn't a problem last year, because Jimmy White was the seniors champion and they used that to effectively give him a wildcard. But since the seniors champion was a less exciting player this year, that title is no longer worth anything.

So they did what they should have done last year and made a common sense decision to give it to Higgins.

Defending champion and world champion missing? PL worth nothing without ROS in it. I'm in smuglers cove, on a beach. I love technology, I'd be bored otherwise. Lol
