  • Does pink come back up?

Player B with free ball (with pink and black on table) nominates black as free ball. He plays shot badly and black accidentally knocks pink in. Question: does pink come back up?

  • #2
    No.

    Pink is Ball On.
Black is nominated Free Ball - acting as Ball On - a Pink.

He could deliberately play the Free Ball on to and pot the Ball On. No Foul. Ball On stays off the table, as per your scenario only Pink and Black on the table.

Before you ask, in your scenario, if the Black and Pink both go into the pocket...
    6 points scored.
    Pink stays off the Table.
    Black spotted.
    Black now Ball On

If I nominate black. Miss it completely but white travels on and pots the pink is that a 6 point foul? Assume yes as in this situation there can only be one ball on which was the black acting as an extra pink.

Correct. You can hit both balls simultaneously but you cannot hit the pink first if the black is nominated as the free ball.

          Agree with snookerdad's rely

Just to be pernickety, terminology is a bit off - the Pink is Ball On; the Black is also Ball On once nominated as Free Ball - so either/both can be potted; BUT the Nominated Free Ball (Black) must be hit first (or simultaneously with the Pink) by the Cue Ball.

            Isn't a simultaneous hit a foul?
This is how you play darts ,MVG two nines in the same match!

not when it is two reds or Ball on and Nominated Free Ball, as for that stroke there are two of the Ball On on the table

Rule 3.6. Hitting Two Balls Simultaneously
Two balls, other than two Reds or a free ball and a ball on, must not be hit simultaneously by the first impact of the cue ball.

I don't understand if you nominate the black , which means there are two pinks (as in two reds) on the table and you hit the other pink , why is that a foul, yet a simultaneous hit isn't, the reason a simultaneous hit is a foul is because you clearly haven't hit the ball on first so they call a foul but not here, as they class them both as pinks, yet when you don't hit the ball on they do call a foul as they aren't treating them as both pinks.
