CIU - Club and Institute Union. I have been finding them via snooker magazines. All good.

In the old days there were many "Working men's clubs". These were private members' clubs and were owned by their members. In practice they were co-operative societies for the purchase of beer. Entry was restricted to members. The drinks in them were appreciably cheaper than in a pub. In practice they were all members of the CIU. That meant that a member of any other CIU member club could use a club. So if a member happened to be away, for example, on holiday he, or she, could still get the cheaper drinks etc.

I thought some of the younger members might not be aware of the above.

Good explanation this. When I played, the team always looked forward to the much cheaper beer prices at the Working Men's Club!!!

That's kind of you. Pre-1962. Tbh, 1946- 1961 would be great. Champions and r/ups. Geoffrey Thompson will have five second places I think.
