Very sad...seems increasingly likely that we've seen the last of Ronnie on the tour.

If he's not going to play then much better to do it this way than pull out of one event at a time a few days before kick off.

And whatever the reason, here's hoping he is able to resolve whatever issues he currently has and he can enjoy a long and happy life, with or without professional snooker.

I've just seen this. Massive news, but not particularly surprising.

The sport will survive without him, but he is obviously a massive draw and World Champion. So still sad news, whether you're a fan or not.

Since I'm in my last year of school, does it mean that unless he chooses not to formally retire, the next time I'll be able to watch him in a televised ranking tournament, I'll be in university?

                    That depends on your grades.

                      LOL

Back to the subject. Sad day for snooker, like some fellow members mentioned that its somehow doesn't come as a surprise. The fact that he's taken a leave earlier hinted this outcome.

Strange that this announced the evening that his life story interview is on TV. Perhaps there are a few clues about it in this show.

He hasn't seemed right for a while and hearing about how he played in the seniors events it doesn't sound like at times he wanted to play in those either.
Personally I think his problems are never going to go away and trying to be a successful sportsman is far too difficult a task, especially as he gets older and the challenges he faces. Its a shame but his health must come first, at least we have been lucky to witness a true genius of the game. He is one of the best sportsmen of all time, I'd put him up there with Federer and Woods as the most talented players of their sports.

My feelings exactly. All the best to him.
