yes very sad news for snooker that - so who will be the first match on at Sheffiled if the defending champion is not in the contest I suppose it will be the World No 1 - I think Ronnie should play at Sheffiled just to try and defend his World tilte - plus I can't see him playing in the Qualifiers next season either especially if he falls out the 32 by the end of the season.

I think this is just a statement being put out to stop him from being fined for the rest of the season, I think the reality is he is probably going to quit at the end of the season. I think he's probably weighing up his options but I think its innevitable given his age and where he will be ranked that he won't want to return to snooker after such a long lay off. The longer he is away from the game the tougher he will find it to return.

I personally wish him the best with his battle against depression and hope we see a comeback when he feels it is the right time for him and his family.

At the end of the day it is a game of sticks and balls their are far more important things in life and hopefully when these fall into place for him he will get the snooker bug back

They say money can't make you happy.. Can't think of a better example than this at the moment..

Hope he's back soon and manages to get his life sorted out - he's given me so much enjoyment over the years I wish him all the best whatever he does, but I'd dearly love to see him back in the game. Be a hell of a story if he sat out everything until the worlds in April and then came back and won it again

It's a sad news for the game, for sure, but it might be the best decision for him. If he doesn't feel allright then better stay home with the family and take care of himself...and his soul.
It will be very interesting to see his interview tonight. I hope I'll be able to catch it somewhere on the net...

And whatever the reason, here's hoping he is able to resolve whatever issues he currently has and he can enjoy a long and happy life, with or without professional snooker.
I agree on this. Regarding rankings I don´t think he´ll be in any problems, if the moneybased rankings are introduced next year, as he won two of the best payed tournaments last year.

Complete guess but maybe he was told everyone next season starts at the 128 round which would be more reason not to be bothered about his ranking position now.

It has been done before in other sports to save face but I don't think that is the case here.
Ronnie has a history of mental problems and sounds like he does need a break, maybe even to retire.

I won't miss all the crap that comes with him but when on form he has been amazing to watch and has the ability to make frame winning breaks out of nothing.

Hope he finds some peace in his own mind.

After watching the programme on ITV4 I didn't think he took time out because he was depressed. Yes he admitted that he suffered from it previously but it didn't seem he was depressed in that interview. I think it is what he said at the end , he doesn't need to prove anything anymore , he has achieved everything he wants from the game. So in that respect he might think that's it .
I feel we haven't seen the last of him, I got the impression he loves the game and wanted to prove that he is the best, I can see him coming back to have another go at the World championships , but I doubt he will play in many of the lesser tournaments unless there was some financial incentive.

I've given up on the pro game now, unless the structure changes or some young prodigy comes along I for one won't be watching the tosh that's about, ppl who think that this won't affect snooker are kidding themselves. I talk to ppl who have no interest in snooker all the time and ask them do you watch snooker? I get the same reply " I used to" and then they might add "I don't mind watching Ronnie he's ok"
Snooker needs to increase it's fan base and not just become a sport for die hard's snooker fans.

Well, it doesn't help if old fans walk away immediately their favorites retire (or take a break, Ronnie hasn't walked away for good, yet at least). It tells me that they're not giving a chance for the new players and they're stucked in the past. It's a pitty that some people's interest it's not in great snooker we can witness almost every week but in couple of familiar faces they're used to see.

Of course, everyone make their own mind about it but I still wonder...

If you want to make my post about me and use it to attack me that's fine, for what end I have no Idea? I suggest you read my post again then read it again and you will find that your response makes no sense at all.
