REANNE Evans hopes to extend her 43-match unbeaten run on the women’s snooker circuit at Cambridge Snooker Centre on Saturday (October 10).
The East Anglian Championship is the second of six ranking events on the World Ladies Billiards & Snooker Association’s 2009/10 tour.
Five-time world champion Evans, 23, from Dudley, won the East Anglian in 2006 and 2008. She has a total of 18 ranking titles.
Among Evans’ rival for this year’s title are Maria Catalano (Dudley), Emma Bonney (Portsmouth) and Kent’s Katie Henrick who claimed her first and only tournament victory here two years ago.
Henrick, 29, said: “Winning the East Anglian back in 2007 was a special and important moment as it was my first ranking event win.
“It’s a long time ago now so it would be great to get another win.
“I need to play my best snooker though and start scoring more, which I haven't been doing, especially if you want to beat a player like Reanne who is winning and improving all the time.
“She is without question the best player - but we all have to start believing in ourselves and have more confidence if we are going to win.
“You have to play the game not the player and not worry about anyone else.”
Also in the Cambridge line-up is: eight-time German national champion Natascha Niermann; Derbyshire youngsters Hannah Jones, 13, Joanne Davies, 16, Naomi Clare, 15; Swindon teenager Jodie Symes, 15; and, making a welcome return to the circuit, Newcastle’s Pam Wood.
The WLBSA is hosting six ranking events this season culminating in the World Championships in April.
