Agreed but online suits people who really wants to test driving skills- very difficult, not recommended to fast type racers who shove on the handbrakes as they gets into the corner.

That is an incredibly realistic driving sim. The way you struggled to pass the white car in front of you on the first few corners was spot on. Is this PC or console?

It's a pc sim Billy. Console games are just that really, games. The race sims of today have just about everything but G force and fear.

Grand Prix Legends by papyrus.

The daddy came out I think it was in 99 it's pretty old now but still the benchmark for all to follow and few rarely compete. The cars are all 60's Grand Prix cars. and the graphics nothing special but the physics were so realistic the fan base grew so huge many of them went on to improve the game by adding free downloads of updated graphically cars and tracks. Cars are almost all from the 60's before downforce was heard of and a bitch to master. Today there's in excess of 800 plus circuits real and fantasy you can add for free.

Sports car GT by I.S.I. (packaged by E.A. GAMES)

By far easier to learn to drive in I.S.I. developed SCGT a little later. It's file structure made it easier to edit and modify. today theres 700+ circuits and literally thousands of cars of all types imaginable.

Nascar racing 2003 also by Papyrus.

Papyrus's core market being the Nascar fans in America came out with a game a year till the company folded up IN 2004. NR 2003 is the best of them as the physics were improved upon with downforce etc and the online capability greatly improved. It too has been modified to include all sorts of cars and tracks. The game sells for far more than it's original price now and is pretty scarce. An original disc is needed to add the extras on as mods wont work with pirated copies.

GT Racing by Simbin / GT Legends etc

While papyrus dominated sims in the states I.S.I. did likewise the rest of the world over with their F1 sims till EA games lost the F1 franchise. One of the groups of modifying fans called Simbin made the best mod to date with their FIA sports cars add on for ISI's.F12005 and so good was it they ended up quitting their day jobs and launched Simbin as a real company. Very difficult to modify and add anything to it because they protected the programming. many sim fans scorned them as traitors in a way chasing the buck and screwing the modding community as likewise with the console games if you want more you cant even make your own, you've got to buy their updates.

rFactor by ISI

Effectively the ISI company were redundant after E.A. lost the F1 franchise but with their new software engine launched rFactor the first sim made specifically for the modding comunity who they not only encorage but actually help. You buy the game and an unlock code, somehow it's restricted to your pc so pirated copies are useless therafter it's a case of getting free add ons galore and help with making your own if your so inclined.

There's other notable sims but IMO RFactor is top dog for now.
