Morning all, hope you had a good weekend. Sorry I wasn't able to get on over the weekend - good to see people are still getting involved.
Now just to address some of your criticisms, yes we do constantly take on board fan feedback and work to do everything within our power to address as much as possible. We're a small team and we're just as passionate about the game as you are, and we work incredibly hard to improve it. There are all sorts of constraints which might not always be obvious from the outside whether they be technical constraints, market constraints or time constraints and we work around these to deliver the best possible product. This game is our baby too.
Will WSC Real 11 address every single issue each fan has raised? No, of course not - but it will address a lot of them and give you some awesome surprises to boot. Is it a massive improvement over the previous version and our best since 2005? Absolutely yes. Will we continue to improve for the next version based on fan feedback? Definitely so keep it coming!
We are not EA - we don't have huge piles of cash and hundreds of people working on the title. However because we are small we also listen and react. When you comment on here you are talking DIRECTLY to the games designers - this is your game as much as it is ours. We don't even have a PR department so you're not being fed bull****, you're talking to the development team. If I haven't answered every single question it's not because I'm avoiding it, it might take time but I try to get all the answers - like I did for CookieMonsta's questions about online.
With that in mind here's a few updates:
- Waistcoats on pros and correct handedness: These weren't a priority for us this time based on the data we collected and analysed, however it's definitely an area we can address next time if it gets enough popular support
- AI improvements. I grant you it's easy to say "AI improvements". Truth is the dev team has been constantly making little iterative improvements to AI which give a general improvement overall. We haven't overhauled this system entirely but we have tuned, tweaked and balanced it better
- Animation. Again I wasn't being intentionally vague. Like AI the animation team have made tweaks and improvements without overhauling the entire system this time, however at the moment this is an area or priority for future versions.
The priorities for WSC Real 11 based on all the feedback we collected were:
- Controls. Simpler, slicker, everything in one stage
- Accessibility. Clearer feedback, slicker and faster menus, fast loading times
- Physics. Fans challenged us to have THE best physics of any Pool/Snooker game, so we embarked on an ambitious R&D project to bring 100% pixel perfect physics.
- Spectacle. Awesome new bullet-time replays allow you to examine the physics exquisite detail and even reverse time. You have full analogue control over playback speed and full manual camera control.
- Saving. You wanted to be able to save your game at any point and return later, now you can. You can even save all the shots of a match to enjoy the replays in future and tag your favourite replays. We also added the rewind feature so you can go back to any shot and retake to continue from that point. You can only do this twice per match and can't do it online.
- Online. You wanted online tournaments. Now you've got them complete with leaderboards. You wanted us to fix the issues with people pulling when losing an online game - this is fixed
- Character create. You wanted a better, more powerful character create feature, now you've got it.
- Aiming aid. You wanted more flexibility and a more dynamic aiming aid which gives better information while remaining customisable.
That's an overview of some of the areas of focus. Believe me that constitutes a lot of work and a huge, huge improvement to the game. You can expect us to continue to be as comprehensive moving forward based on fan feedback
