So that means there's no way of setting up an online game, with only short or medium arrows ?
If that's true, you obviously didn't read through the 09 version thread...
The 2005 version had a perfect way of setting up matches, by the looks of this it's going to be another failure...too easy for most people !
People taking on shots that would never been taken in 'real' life...

Would be nice if a developer would actually appear on this forum to answer the queries. For a game that's only 3 weeks away there isn't really much marketing going on!
the key to the topspin games in my experience is anticpation if ypu casn anticipate where the basll is going to go you're half way there and just to le t you know neither am I.

as for advertising I know it's not far off but I'm suprised they haven' tdone it already Codemasters are just beginning to get their campaign for F1 2011 underway which comes out September 23rd. I just hnope it's as good as the 2010 game is that they did I'm sure it will be. I'm just interested to find out what new features they've come up with

        • The most important things that must change imo, are ;-

The difficulty of the game. It was too easy or too hard. You must be stopped from potting balls off the lightshades.

Tournaments need to be more realistic. I can never remember a tournament being best of 13, which was how the first rounds of all tournaments were.

The poor graphics and animation of the players i can live with, IF the above two requests are met.

I don' t know about that as on both the 07 and on the 09 versions although you could see the arrows and direction I always found it difficul tto judge the power as the arrows didn't light up that clearly which left me kind of guessing and relying quite heavily on the cueball positioning aid it looks to me judging from the screenshots they've chsanged that I'd have to take a closer look and try it of course but it looks OK now

I've already preordered the game I'm just waiting for it now

            • Hi Dark Energy

Thank you for answering about the Aiming Aid - however you didn't respond to the main part of my questions and I'd be grateful if you could answer these, as this will hinge on my decision on wheter to purchase the game.

              Single player:

              1. Whilst all tournaments were in 2009 version the last round of the qualifiers was wrong. Where the last 16 were seeded the game showed this as the last round of the qualifiers when in fact it is the first round of the tournament. As soon as the top 16 players play that is the first round and NOT a qualifier. Has this been fixed to adequately reflect that it is the last 32 in the tournament proper and not last 16!
              2. Is there the option of full length matches this time and moreso is this now the correct amount of frames? Notably the world championships on 100% length had just 13 frames in 2nd round matches of tournament proper (should be 25) and only 19 frames for the finals. Also the qualifiers of the UK Championship and World Championship at full length should be best of 19 frames and not best of 9. Before the release of 2009 I asked if full length matches were in and was giving a resounding YES. However unlike 2005 they weren't. Are PROPER FULL LENGTH MATCHES in 2011 version. (For a company which claims they are fans of the sport why do they fail to get the above 2 points right in every iteration with the excepton of 2005!).
              3. Dark Energy mentions "tweeks" to the AI. To be honest when commentry/graphics have barely been touched I am rather sceptical about these tweeks. Will the AI still take absolutely ridiculous shots when needing snookers?
              4. In 2005 and older versions we could see the progression of the AI. Since 2007 if you don't qualify you DON'T EVEN KNOW WHICH AI WON EACH TOURNAMENT! Is this still the case or can you now see the progression regardless of whether or not you qualify?

              • Thanks to DarkEnergy for the last reply to questions.

However the honest answer relating to the aiming aid has definately made me delay buying this game till I read some forum feedback from players who get the game.

I personally see it as a huge oversight to not incorporate a feature that was in a previous version of a game (2005), which has been so frequently requested by fans of the series. As such I will keep my money in my pocket for the present time. Of course if the new aiming aid proves to be a success I will buy a copy without delay.

What I think DarkEnergy need to understand is that a lot of players just want to go and play online, on a level playing field (table), with a realistic/challenging game of snooker. Watching your opponent clear up the table every visit, or vice versa is just not fun.

A HD version of 2005 was all that was needed imo.

Sorry it's been a while since we've been on here, we've been busy readying the marketing activity for WSC Real 11. Keep your eye on this forum on Monday - you guys will be the first to see the new trailer

Some answers to all the great questions:

                  Aiming aid:
                  • Although you can't choose a short, medium and long aiming aid, you start with a short aiming and and can choose to upgrade it by spending skill points. If you want to stay with a short aiming aid just spend the skill points elsewhere.
                  • No aiming aid can't be toggled off in top down view
                  • Yes all aiming aid sections can be toggled on/off for all modes including online

                  Pool interface:
                  • Yes the old interface of the floating arrows indicating nominated balls has been overhauled with a crisp, clear yet unintrusive new design

                  Controls:
                  • Yep the new controls are definitely much simpler and cleaner with the one touch shot and the simple set up of spin and cue angle

A few people have said they don't think it's been updated much since 09, this is simply not true. It's been massively enhanced over 09 in a number of ways, I've listed these in the forum before but it's worth repeating:
                  • All new pixel perfect physics system
                  • All new online tournaments
                  • All new super-slow-motion and shot-reverse replay system where you can position the camera anywhere on the table and have full analogue control over shot speed
                  • Save every shot of you entire match to enjoy again and archive the whole match to view every shot again
                  • You have two Rewinds per match - allowing you to retake a shot if you make a mistake and continue the game from that point (similar to the feature found in many modern racing games (this is not available during online)
                  • Controls have been simplified and made more accessible while allowing quick set up of spin and cue angle - you now have a one touch shot take functionality
                  • Greatly improved character create system
                  • HUD and interface has been completely re-designed throughout making it clearer and better looking than ever
                  • The front end has been streamlined so you can jump in and out of all the modes quickly with fast loading times
                  • All new aiming aid is better looking and provides more detailed information on ball behaviour

There's probably more I have forgotten but in short it's a huge overhaul from 09 and we've incorporated many of the features fans requested. We'll continue to do this for future versions and will be asking for your feedback on 11 too
There will be a PC version?

If WSC Real 11 is only half as good as TS4 I would be very happy

My thoughts too - WSC 2005 in HD with AI improvements would have been great

to be honest those were my thouights too although I did like the ideaof the positional aid for the cuebasll as it does make things easier as I'm no expert when it comes to positioning. I'm pretty good at potting not so good at getting the cueball wher e I need it for the next shot although having said this in more recent times I have got better I think. I'm just a casual player that enjoys a game that makes me think asnd this game does.

I don't think this was essential for me an HD version of 2005 would have been perfect as 2005 was easy to set up a shot for me due to the fact it enabled me to use the D-pad as did 07 but the problem with 07 was the dot moved very jerkily when setting up the spin and so did the aiming aid wnhich made things difficult to line up 09 has this problem too but it's not quite so bad on 09. Luckily snooker is generally a slower game and time is not an issue so I can take more time setting it up

For me they did a good job getting the graphics right in 07 and 09 but the aiming aid power was difficult to read I hope the power system on the aiming sid is clearer it looks to be much better but until I get to work with it I'm not sure

As far as I can tell I don't think it's coming out on PC this time having said that I'm not certain of this as for the moving forward and back like the way there may be an option for these things via the kinect and PS move but again I'm not sure
