I tried clicking those links but it comes up with a 404 error page not found. When searching 'wsc real 11' I can only find a one for £33.95. Maybe I am searching wrong?

Sorry about that, they must have expired. I searched for "WSC real 11 360" and just underneath the 2nd result there are two links saying:

        £11.97 new (5 offers)
        £3.09 used (9 offers)

Clicking those takes you to the right page. Hope that helps.

Just a thought, You are looking in Amazon.co.uk aren't you? Not Amazon.com.

Ah yes, I did see those but they are for 09, bit weird how it brings up the 09 game aswell when searching for 11. But thanks for the help!
Have you had any experience playing either of these games 09/11 and if so which is the best?

Ah yes you're right. Sorry again. That's very pricey for a 2 year old game isn't it.

There's this one on ebay for £15 (buy it now) with £2 postage, but that's still a bit pricey IMO.

Personally, I prefer 09, but they both have their good and bad points.

That's what I mean, the prices are incredible really! Oh I haven't checked ebay in a while, when the Masters was on this year I fancied buying a game and checked on ebay, and they were all £22 starting price £30 buy it now etc. Couldn't believe it. It seems that the snooker games have declined as the years have gone on, graphics improving but I have read that the earlier games are better in terms of gameplay. I suppose the best way to decide is watch some videos. Good old YouTube it is then!

Those prices are ridiculous! When WSC 2011 turns up on the 'pre-owned' shelves in game shops, it sells for about £8. Only trouble is, it doesn't turn up that often because people don't bother as they know they'll get next to nothing for it.

I haven't played 2011 and would have bought it if I'd been able to find a copy on my travels today, but on reflection I'd go for the 2009 version. There are slight improvements, such as aiming aids and an interface which are easier on the eye, but as far as I can gather from what I've read and seen on youtube, they've done away with the 'real', 1st-person mode, choosing instead to switch to tv cameras when you take your shot (usually the pocket cam according to Pat - which as he says is useless). I've also read that the table runs painfully slow on the 2011 version. Oh, and the programmers forgot to draw the spots on the table too.

I can also recommend World Snooker Championship 2007 (the name before it became WSC Real). Lovely graphics (apart from the crowd) and wonderfully simple and practical camera views (just like on tv).

Thanks for that reply! Yeah the way the cushions just completely kill the speed of the cueball on 11 just looks stupid, graphics are great but it looks rubbish apart from that. I've just checked a video of the 2007 version, and I must say I'm impressed, pretty good detail on the looks of the players (considering it's 5/6 years ago). Killer question then, if you had to choose between 07 and 09 which would it be!?

                    2005

Complete downward spiral ever since - didn't buy 2011 version thank goodness. I still have my PS2 set up to play the 2005 version. The aiming aid and camera angles were fantastic

Yeah they've definitely been on the decline in terms of gameplay. Haha have you, unfortunately I threw out my ps2 a while back. Think I might go for 2009, decent graphics, gameplay seems better than 2011, maybe a bit worse than 2007. It's somewhere in the middle!

Good question. The answer? Well, given the price I'd get them both. There are pro and cons for both. Like zimrahil I loved the simplicity of 2005. The player animation was good and they really got down on their shots, assuming the correct position and stance. But, like me, you've updated your consoles and so can no longer play anything before 2007.

2007: Pros - Unfussy, good camera angles; fair animation (as close to the 2005 version as you're going to get on the 360/PS3 consoles). Cons - No 'Real'/1st-person mode (I know this isn't everyone's cup of tea, but I think it's been done really well and ads another dimension to the immersion)

2009: Pros - 'Real'/1st-person mode, but you can still switch to the familiar overhead view by tapping triangle button. It also has the option to use 'Classic' style gameplay. The balls look better (not as glassy and reflective as they are in 2007) and the cushions don't make that dull thud noise like they do in 2007. Cons - terrible player animation. Some of the positions they adopt when playing shots has to be seen to be believed, and they're virtually stood upright on some.

Verdict: Get them both; 2009 for the 'real' mode, 2007 for it's simplicity.

Thanks for that! That is one of the first things I noticed about 2009, the player animations, they look like they're putting 'top' on every one of their shots.

Yes, I forgot about that. It's not perfect in 2007, but you do occasionally see them addressing the ball at different places.

One other thing that's always annoyed me about these games is that you can't turn off the commentary without also turning off the referee. So you have to either put up with their inane babbling, or go without the referee calling out the break score.

I don't think I'd mind the commentary tbh, but saying that I haven't played it so I dno how annoying it is haha

Oh, it's annoying, believe me. It's just a series of comments that Taylor Virgo and Davis were hired to record, which are then slipped into the game at certain points. There is an element of relevance to what they're saying, but not much. The most notable thing about the commentary is that it's obvious the three of them thought it was some kind of acting job, so instead of just speaking in their natural voice, they end up sounding like some kid in his first nativity play.

                                Anyway, listen for yourself
