I dont want to be negative but i tried it on pc today and will deffinitely NOT be buying it. The best snooker game for the pc in my opinion was virtual snooker by interplay there was more of a snooker feel with that. you used the mouse to cue, not just set everything and push a button. I think that this is just rubbish in comparison. Also no matter where you set the spin it cues up exactly the same it always looks like youre playing with loads of top. and to top it all off it sounds as if the cushions are made out of wood. All that and no online play either.

Blade should be ashamed charging nearly £40, there are better free online games around in my opinion.

I agree, it's ****e. The players look ridiculous on most shots, i've never seen anybody play the majority of shots with one leg in the air! I've noticed when a CPU player has to stretch to play a shot the cue grows by a huge amount then when he's played it magically goes back to normal size. A waste of money

I got WSC 09 today for the 360. I am so dissapointed in the game its untrue. Ive waited over a year for this game and its no more than a 'minor update' to 2007. The only good thing is that you can turn the position bubble off - BUT you cant set a custom match online where you specify no position indicator - so if you play without it theres nothing to stop your opponent using it and clear the table in one visit.

Graphics are no better than 07 imo (the pink is barely noticeable amongst the reds on my tv), sound / commentary is dire and generally same as 07, I think the achievements are the same as 07- the only saving grace is I only paid £11 cash after trading in some old games at Gamestation - I was going to pay £35 for this game but the game is just not worth it. Blade should hold their heads in shame at this release of a game.

2005 version on Xbox 1 was better imo.

Sorry to be negative - I imagined the continued delays with this game were at least going to deliver a snooker simulation of the highest quality - something went horribly wrong..... i'm so disappointed. Only £11 though.......

            WSC Real 09

            Hi Blade.

I am impressed by it, there's a bug where the commentry loops over on the ps3 quite often but other than that its very good. Graphically its excellent, it plays well, the pros appear to be better than on 07, along the lines of 03 and 04 which is better, on 07 the standard of the top 16 overall was poor.

My highest break is 110, 90 and 72, now playing Jamie Cope, then Ken Doherty in Shanghai Masters qualifiers.

I do like the media achievements too, I hope the ranking system is like 04, 07 took forever to catch the top 16 even though I was unbeaten in 3 seasons I hardly got anywhere!

So yeah, initially I am impressed, I'd also like to see a fully accurate championship mode like 04 rather than first to 7, then 8, then 10 in the finals (of course that's not how it is in real life).

I LOVE the dressing room and all the stats too, if I had to review it I'd give it a solid 8 out of 10, well done, impressive stuff!

              Hi,

I am amazed. 10 whole pages of feedback of the game and not even a single word about the physhics engine there.

Heh, what makes people to complain first about some virtual trophies, commentary or the color of the clothes the players are wearing in the animations? Isn't that a bit shallow? Those have actually nothing to do with whats the game all about.

And having words like "commentary" and "real play" in a same sentence just doesnt make any sense. Do you have a commentary when you play in your local club?

I dont have the game yet so I am gonna ask and hope to get some proper answers too:

              1. Table speed. Is it the same as it is seen on the trailers? I remember seeing a breakshot on a game trailer where cueball travels fast across the table, hits the last right-side red -> cueball hits the black-end top cushion and then, just suddenly it starts to slow down veeeeery quickly. Whats that all about? Is the same physhics-engine used in the gameplay as it is used in these trailers?

              2. Cueball squirt when playing with english, is that implemented in the physhics engine?

              3. And how about cueball throw?

              4. Nap effect?

              5. Sidespin effect on cushion?

              6. Rail speed?

Well I would understand the trophy-issue if there would be online-game in it. But in a offline-game, who cares?

And about the aiming-aids posts some pages earlier.. Yep I agree that the gameplay is difficult without the aids and having AI-players like O'Sullivan as an opponent its very difficult to win the match... Its a Snooker World Championship game and because of that the AI players are supposed to be like they are in real. This is actually the problem. They are so good that the player is actually forced to play using aiming aids to even have a change to win. The aiming aids are ruining the game if You ask me. It changes it all upside down, even if you play with the hardest aids, with short arrow. It changes the whole gameplay compared into a real life play because in the game with the aids, no matter of the difficulty level, you are watching only the aiming aid when aiming. The aiming system is totally different compared into real play: In real play you watch the object ball and the contact point and in the game you are watching only the aid which actually is totally on the other side object balls contact point. In short: Yep, with extremely good AI players the aiming aid is good thing, but only for that reason the player would even have a chance win. If the AI players would be playing at the same skill level as the player, it would be definitely recommended to wipe out all the aids from the game, it would make it much more interesting and real-like. I am waiting patiently to see some videos of aiming aided 147:s. First get the angle right. Then, once the angle is locked, totally forget it and tune the english and power to get the position right. And then the next ball. Woo-hoo, terrific effort.

Btw does the game seriously have the skill points which I have heard about? Yes, the ones which are giving even more aids?

                Probably you referring my comment?

You can turn off that commentary as well. Happy?

So, you suggest to change the game title? VIRTUAL SNOOKER 2009

And lower the difficulty to what? 80%?

                My suggestion would be different:
                - Since you can turn off all aims ... why not add an option to lower the AI settings?

                Then you all win ...

After my post yesterday where I had not really had a good couple of hours to play I just want to point out my utter disgust and dissapointment with this title. What exactly caused all the delays? sure changing a few option menus couldn't have taken a full year?

What are the differences with this game and the previous title that would warrant a WSC 2007 owner to shell out another £40 for there "updated" title?

I really cant believe they made us wait a full year extra as I can't tell any difference from 07. The biggest thing that annoys me (and i know its already been mentioned that you don't get commentary in your local club- but you don't get to sit about in your local club eating frosties in your boxers either ) is that they havent even updated any of it. Its the exact same stupid comments about crosswords and cucumber sandwiches as the previous title and the fact there there are some bugs with this aswell is a joke! Normally i don't mind a few launch title bugs, just give them a chance to get it right after a couple of weeks with a patch. but WTF have they been doing for thr last 2 years?!

                  rant over!

Its the same physics as 2007 version as far as I can tell - if you have played 2007 you know what to expect with 2009.

I placed an order yesterday at play.com and today the order status is already packing. I have good experience with Play and recommend you to place your order overthere. The game is in stock.

I think I will not entertain you as I am a VERY slow player in the game.
I have always trouble to get the aiming pixel-perfect... :snooker:
