Thats fair enough, maybe they should take on something smaller then WSC as that seems to be too much for them.

I refuse to believe people at Blade sat there with the finished game in hand and were happy and proud of it.

This is the gamebreaker (for me at least). 05 had so many things that were excellently implemented, but many elements (that I have posted elsewhere) have been removed in 09.

I just cannot understand how a developer could take certain elements of a game and change them resulting in less realism than what they had to start with?

I think because this is currently the only snooker game available some people are too forgiving (being eternally grateful etc etc) but if you settle for mediocrity you end up with something much worse.

Again, just my opinion. I hope people respect that as much as I respect people who enjoy the game. I wish I was the same as them!

I completely agree with you there, maybe this is the problem with Blade, they have no compition so they can effectivly release what they want.

        • I agree

And I really should have qualfied my previous post by saying that if you have never played the previous versions I could see why you might think 09 isn't a completely duff game.

If you have however played 04/05, then you hopefully can at least appreciate the points I have raised the last 2 weeks

          • I picked up 05 for 3£ for the xbox and its pretty good, alot better then 09, Picked up Jimmy White's which is also alot better and a snooker/pool game called Cue Club on the PC which is really fun!

The fun side of the game has been sacrificed for the 'simulation' aspect of the game but since that has the most basic flaws your left with a pretty broken game really. Just have to stick to 05 and hope the official license gets given to a different studio...maybe Bethesda....least character creation would be amazing!

            • azza - - - you ar completely wasting your time, these idiots at Blade seem to think it ideal to switch aconsole off to save.

As Blade are a small studio compared to the others out there you would of thought the very people they want on their side are us the customers but how very wrong we are.

Lets hope someone like EA are reading this and thinking oh opportunity beckons then at least us fans will get a decent simulation in our hands.

              Until then Blade sucks...

Does anyone know how the ranking is formed? Blade never responses to this question

just a thought, if you feel this way and many others agree, why don't you all send messages to ea regarding these issues and forum, etc. if they can't be bothered to respond then i can't see blade being any worse or better. maybe nothing will come of it, but it may show others, including blade that your not willing to put up with it anymore. if anyone does decide to give it a go, it may end up like pes and fifa football. fifa having the license for real names, teams, etc and pes having silly ones.

if it were a great game, would you be prepared to except names like mark wallyams and tournaments like grand pricks, much like pes games or would you find this stupid?

i always went for pes every year, but they slacked for years until in 08 and 09, i decided to swap to fifa. despite pes slacking, it proved competition for ea who needed to push things further. it all proved to be worth it and having a competitor meant they have to be on there toes. perhaps blade ain't feeling this type of pressure and needs something similar to kickstart things again.

most sport has a competitor, like tennis, such as virtua tennis by sega, top spin by 2k sports and ea's new grand slam tennis. no other snooker though, as if there were, blade may start losing more sales.

With PES, within a few days of release, or before in many cases, there are patches/mods available that replace the made up names with real names. I would imagine the same thing would be possible with a snooker game, so someone else, have a go! Doesn't matter if there's licences or not, modders can edit those.

By the way, is EA's new Tennis game coming to PC? And have they got the official licence? I've had it with VT's arcadey career mode: stupid minigames to train, no option to save during a damn tournament (even if you do restart the PC/console - a stupid thing to do, I might add - are you listening at the back there, Blade?)

                      • Guys Im sorry but I honestly dont think EA or any other large studio would bother buying the licensing rights and developing a WSC game every year. The sport, sadly, isn't big enough compared to football, golf or even tennis. You have to look on a world-wide scale here. The only thing this franchise has going for it is that it includes the official world pool licensing too, which will attract sales in the US.

The fact that Blade have stuck with the franchise for several years now means that it must make some money but they've not exactly brought out many AAA games in between installments of WSC. There's obviously simply not enough demand for snooker sports games to warrant huge budgets and a huge development team or we'd have already seen a big publisher come in offer a large amount of cash and buy the license outright.

That being that, I think we should give constructive feedback to Blade and push them in what we think is the correct direction for this game- not by blurting out rash insulting comments but by explaining the failings of the game and possible solutions of how these flaws can be addressed. If these cant be patched in then at least documented for the next installment's design. Really, its the only way forward I feel.

Im assuming Blade are going to have a representitive or two at the world championships for the duration of the competition like they did last year. From what I remember, there was a guy called Pete or Paul(?) in the CueZone demo'ing the Wii version last year. He was a friendly and funny guy who seemed genuinely interested in what people thought of the game. Perhaps if any of you are attending any matches this year you could pay him a visit; just a thought.

agreed, moaning don't get you anywhere, but it does help release a little stress. sounds like they were more interested in the wii version, considering that there bringing yet another version out after only 5 months have past since last one. this i have always felt, not that i am complaining, as it's the only version i own.

                          • This is a very good suggestion, but unfortunately I am watching WC via TV

If someone visit Blade there, I am courious to know how long did they test the game before release it? And whether it was tested by (professional) snooker player?

I still could not believe they add "big red floating triangle" on 8 ball game of WSC 2008 Wii version
