I've been playing WSC 2005 the last few days (About to play it again!) and watching that 89 break it was like I was watching myself

Fine tuning your aim backwards and forwards, checking overhead view at regular intervals to check position of balls on table, and the rest trick whereby alter the angle of the rest so you get as many aiming arrows as possible on screen to aim shot correctly and then reset cue angle so can play shot etc

I wish I had online capability on my PS2 as would love you give you a game as it would be really good (assuming you have PS2 version)

Watching the missed maximum on 09 straight after highlights how poor the aiming aid is (for good players); it's too long and available in overhead view yuk !!

God, the cushion sounds in those videos are absolutely horrendous, it sounds as though they're made of wood, with no rubber at all! Wasn't it back in 2004 that Blade had the cushion sounds and the sound of the long pot spot on? I know, I'm being very picky, but note the way the camera man in WSC Real 09 looks at each shot. If Blade can give that (unimportant) aspect that much attention to detail, why not things like cushions that don't sound like wooden blocks?

Or how about an option to turn certain sounds up or down? I assume you can at least choose between sound effects and crowd to turn up or down in the sound menu?

Sorry Blade, but if that's the extent of your samping team's skills, you need to fire the lot of them! They may or may not have come from a WSC table, but the fact is, they're too bloody loud and destroy the atmosphere! Imagine watching a tense Final frame break off shot and you hear clunk, CLUNK, CLUNK as the ball rebounds around the table!

Does anyone know if the sound effects are in WAV format, if so, then they are easily edited.

      Look at this video:

      http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b5zZaHHQiUM

That's how cushions should sound, I know there's music, but you can't hear any clunking out of the cushions, can you?

You can turn each part of the sound effects in game ie. Commentary, crowd sfx etc. Up and down as much as you like in the sound options menu. Why don't LOOK for these things first before complaining that they're not there? As I posted before the cushion sounds themselves appear to be genuine samples it's just the collision engine for them is too sensitive and is playing them too loud. That's a programming error not a problem with samples. Im sorry but you cross the line when you start suggesting people should be fired, that's in very bad taste. Maybe you should give blade a call and say that to the people who work in their sound department directly... YOU might think the cushion sounds are too loud by default but other casual players who aren't as picky as you (by your admission) might expect that kind of feedback. Turn it down in the options menu and enjoy the rest of the game. Simple.

OK, if you reckon most people like having the cushions sounding like blocks of wood. Do you think they sound anything like they should? The cushions on my 6ft table are quieter than them, by absolutely miles!

Edit: They've been doing this game for a long time now and have never got the sound right. They're paid professionals, so should be able to get the sound perfect with the technology we have these days. I mean, they've been working on this game alone for a very long time now! If they haven't been able to do better than this with the sound, then what have they been doing all that time?

As for crossing the line about my comment that they should be fired? Well, that's generally what happens when you can't do the job. I don't know whose fault it is that they're so loud, but someone's responsible. And sound is a very important part of snooker, get it wrong and bye-bye atmosphere.

I just wonder, how can it be so hard to make a good snooker/pool game!? I mean, look at games like Grand Theft Auto IV and Killzone 2. These games have very good graphics, sound, control etc. These games are also a hell lot of harder to produce so I can't understand why a game concerning snooker/pool is hard to success with?

Especially after so many attempts. Especially when Jimmy White's Whirlwind Snooker showed the way about a hundred years ago! Is there anyone here that would say no to an updated Jimmy's Snooker, with the depth of Blade's series off the table?

I think a new producer is needed! A producer that actually know something about snooker

It's bewildering that there aren't more people giving it a go. So what if it's not the official licenced game? Make it easily moddable, and we can do that ourselves.

My favorite out of all the games, is the 2004 version. The table, sounds, game play is more realistic and the pockets are tighter, which makes it more challenging. The 2007 version for me is the easiest, because you cannot disable the perfect positional circle.

2004 is my mate's favourite as well, he's gone back to that as he doesn't like the new controls in WSC 09 PC.

You know that Rockstar (producer of GTA) made a table tennis game a while ago? The game was really good and it didn't included any kind of violence My thought: Rockstar did a table tennis game, why cannot they do a snooker game?

yes. both in GTA: San Andreas and GTA IV but to be honest, it sucks. But the graphics is better though
