  • Is ps3 version unpatchable?

i dont think the game is patchable because the game(ps3) just runs
off the blu-ray disc and doesn't save any executable data to the hd.
the game saves a profile (gamesave) to the ps3 hd, but no actual executable information.
for this reason i doubt that the game can even be patched .

i may be wrong but the game just runs off the blu-ray disc and only uses the hd like a memory card
its the same sort of thing as a ps2 game.
the key to after sales support of a game is how the game uses the hard-drive
if they havent considered this before releasing the game then surely it means
    the game is unpatchable.

p.s turn your ps3 on and goto XMB>GAME>game data utility
this is different to the saved data utility

Probably they will exchange with a new disc? You send the old game to them and receive a new one ...

Or do they mean patch in the next release? Put you in waiting and waiting and waiting until WSC 2010.

If it is unpatchable, they should withdraw the PS3 version from the store ... which is not happening now, isn't?

Of course it's patchable. Most of the games use pointers to possible future patches.
The pointer is some kind of indicator where the program should go. If there is no patch yet, it follows the main route, else it makes a sidestep to the patch and follows that route. After executing the patch it returns to the normal route.

yes thats all well and good to say that, I understand what youre saying about
the program branching off to the hd and executing the patch.
But im telling you that It looks like they haven't considered this
(It would have to be in the released version to branch off from the content on the blu-ray disc). I have a background in game dev/programming and I'm pretty
sure blade haven't written the code so that it would allow the game to branch off and append content(ie patch).
I know what im talking about, you will not see a ps3 patch for this game.

(The only way they could get round it is if sony do some clever stuff with the
next system update and i doubt that they would change their OS for 1 game)

On what ground do you think blade haven't written the code so that it would allow the game to branch off and append content?
It would be against all good developement rules and everybody knows that all big projects need patches sooner or later. I cannot imagine that this is the case. Even more after the game has been postponed three times. That tells you about problems they got. In such a case you might expect bugs and keep options open to patch the game.

seriously, look at the quality of this game.
If blade can allow a release with the bugs that are obvious
then what else have they messed up. They are incompetent and that shows.
you will be waiting forever for a ps3 patch, trust me.

              look at this

This is blade covering their backs cos they know they cant patch it

LOL, no it is not like that
Their post you quoted is a commercial text and not a technical one. Especially the part about the hardware-limitations shows that this is not a technical person, because the hardware is no limit for a good physics engine. Virtual Pool has a better engine, running on inferior hardware. That says it all.

I think there will be a small patch about the PS3 on-line DC problem but for the remaining complaints there will be no patch, is my guess.

have you considered that the longer they string people along
the more difficult it will be for those customers to get a refund
and then blade lose profit and maybe fold.
I just want people to know the truth so they can take their copy
                  back as soon as possible.
I think maybe we share the same greivances with the game and we agree on
                  a lot of things.
I have bought every WSC game so far and have always had to live with the bugs. This version is a step too far.
I would rather blade step down and give another development team the licence and then maybe we will get a new better snooker game.

I would like them to fix the problems but im just being realistic, i honestly dont think they will/can.
Ive got no problem with yourself cos were in the same boat (actually ive already got a refund). I think you have too much faith in blade's ability.

                  good luck tho m8

hanterp, i quoted the wrong post on post #7
                    i meant to quote this:

                    blade wrote:
Thank you for your feedback, it great to hear you are enjoying the game. Those are all very interesting points and as with all feedback we will take them into account for future versions of the game. Generally we only provide patchs to fix fundamental problems not to add features, but all of your suggestions will be added to our reference material for the design of future versions of the game.

demonANT77: sorry if this misled you a bit. this is what i meant by blade covering their backs cos they can't patch the ps3 version.
