Pocket Selection In Pool

Hi all,

When playing pool, is there anyway to override the pocket selection that the game makes for you?

In the example below, I was snookered behind the 8 ball for the shot on my last ball. I wanted to try to get the ball in top left pocket, but the game has made the bottom left pocket the selected pocket.

So even if I was successful in potting in my chosen pocket, I would get a foul for not potting in the nominated pocket.

I'm sure there must be a way to choose your own pocket, but I'm afraid I just can't see it.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Depends on which version you have. Mine is PS3 and you press the select button and then you are able to nominate your chosen pocket. I assume Xbox 360 and PC versions also have a button which does the same.

I have the PS3 version.

When I use the select button I only seem to be able to choose the ball. I can't see how to nominate the pocket. How do you do that.

You select the ball you want, then you should be able to move the red cursor thing from pocket to pocket to select the one you want. Hope this solves your problem.

When I press the select button, all it will let me do is to nominate a ball using the arrow keys. I can't see any way of choosing which pocket you want to pot it into.

Which button do you use to select a pocket?

Hi Mate
If you press select, it gives you an overhead view of the table, then you will have red arrows over the balls, move the arrows with the direction pad, press x to select the ball. You should now see a red circle in a pocket, you can move this from pocket to pocket using the direction pad, press x again when it is in desired pocket.

Thanks for that. Got it now.

The mistake I was making was after I had selected the ball, I thought I had to use another button to select the pocket. Using the arrow buttons after selecting the pocket never occurred to me.
