I go through good and bad phases. Some days I can win a load of matches, yet sometimes I go through a run of 10 or so loses on the trot. It irritates me sometimes that certain lower ranked (unknown) players can pot a long red from the baulk area and go on to miraculously win a frame. Although I suppose this is what happens sometimes in real snooker games.
To win games I used to fluke my way through each match, potting long reds and long yellows or greens from the baulk area, basically potting my way out of trouble everytime. Irronically this often worked in my favour and I potted each of the balls. But doing it this way, I often ran out of position all too quickly and by the time I had a score of say 20 I had to play a safety shot. Then, when my next chance would come, I would try again for more long balls.
But now after a fair bit of practice, my positional play has somewhat improved and I find myself often potting red, black, red, black etc and I'm now achieving breaks of over 50 quite easily. Although even now I still sometimes run out of position

Well last night I had a really bad run and lost about 8 games on the trot, I even got beat in a qualifyer by a ranked 91 player, how embarassing. I almost beat him as well, but I mis-hit a reitivley easy red and from there he somehow managed to get a break of 78. I ended up conceeding the frame in the end because there was very little hope of me getting back into the game from that far behind. So yesterday you could say was one of my off-days

Nah, on a serious note just get used to the game and keep the aids on and try and play full 100% gametime, get used to the players because obviously it is only a game and you will understand who is the more of a challenge and what not, just enjoy it very good game to play and keeps you entertained for a long time. Tell me what you think, if you also have any problems with it just post it on here and me and the other regular lads who play it will try and help you to our best ability.Dark side of the moon

Practise first...?
Hi guys!
Just thought I would share my experiences of this game with everyone - maybe it will be of some help!
Don't know if any of you have already done this but forget the actual tournament play for a while and take some time out to complete ALL of the practise sections of the game - ie the coaching, the challenges AND the trick shots. There are approx 120 individual shots to complete altogether and you get a skill point for every one completed. I added these points equally to the potting and position sections of my skills record.
I managed to do all of them in one night when I first got the game and found that when you come to play tournament games, your aiming aid arrows have nearly doubled in length and your circular position shadow has shrunk to half it's size - meaning that as long as the shot you are taking is a ball that is in the same half of the table as your cue ball, your arrows will be touching or nearly touching the desired pocket and the position shadow is very accurate!
Also long pots from the baulk cushion on reds that are around the black suddenly become easily pottable!
And then if all else fails... I find that tilting your head so that your eyes are at the same angle as the aiming arrows really helps in deciding whether they are actually pointing at the pocket or not!!!
Hopefully this helps a bit??? :snooker:Is this a question...? Discuss.
