  • 9 ball achievements

I'm tying to get the ace break achievement! (potting the 9 ball from the break) does anybody have a video showing how this is done?
Ive been told to place the cue ball to the right had side of the table and use use lots of power and top spin.
But I'm still not getting the 9 ball to move very far let alone drop in to a pocket.......
Also the AI are rubbish at 9 ball pool, I'm trying to let him clear all the balls just leaving me to pot the 9 ball but he always misses and easy shot towards the end. Ive tried using different A1 players but they are all the same!

If the table has been racked properly (all the balls are touching) then the 9 shouldn't move unless it is knocked into by another ball. So there isn't really any way other than luck. On tables that don't rack properly there is sometimes a certian way to hit the pack and control the movement of the 9, however this is usually different from one table to the next.

It is pure luck to get the 9 off the break.

Although I did think I had cracked it during a session a couple of weeks ago, I moved the cue ball to the centre instead of the right hand side and smacked the 1 ball full in the face and sunk the 9 in the right corner pocket twice on the run but then got no were near after that.

Its a funny thing the golden break me and my practice partner must have had 10 sessions and never hit 1 between us then in the session I was talking about above we had 5 between us.
Just because its old, doesn't mean its worth a fortune!!

It's better if you practice how to make a ball, and stay on the 1 ball after the break off shot. That's possible with a lot of practice. There is no such a particular break off shot in which the 9 ball is going towards a pocket, because with a proper racking of the balls the 9-ball should stay on it's spot.

Offcourse it's luck. Maybe if you break off with topspin, then the cue ball will tend to pierce through the rack and may send the 9-ball in some direction, but the chances are slim to pot it. And that type of shot is useless, because the cue ball will end among the balls with the 1 ball at the other end of the table. The break off shot should be powerfull stun shot from any of the side cushions in oder to leave the cue ball somewhere in the middle of the table with a clear shot on the 1 ball for any of the botom corner pockets.
