  • WSC09 - Miss rule bug

I've just been battling against Ronnie in the semi-finals of The Masters when the following happened...

I was leading by 50 points with two reds remaining and after running out of position I laid a snooker. Ronnie played but a "foul and miss" was called.

Am I correct in thinking that the miss rule does not apply if you're in the position of requiring snookers?

Anyway I instructed the game to make Ronnie re-take which he did and another miss was called. After that he conceeded the frame.

It's a prob with most with all of them I think the exact same thing happened to me on the 05 versionas I had the computer beat and needing snookers I forget who exactly was my opponent that day but I had him requiring snookers He snookered me and I missed my shot and the ref called a miss and I though t to myself WTF why are you calling a miss because as you said at the snookers required stage misses ca't be called as far as I understand the rules and in the end it ended up costing me the match I was well annoyed given I was playing really well up until that point

I think that in your case the miss rule was applied correctly even though it unfortunately cost you the match.

I believe that the rule is that a player who requires snookers cannot be guilty of commiting a "foul and miss"

A miss can be called when a player needs snookers.

This happens when the miss is intentional i.e. when a foul is so obvious that it is deliberate.

Read Section 3, Rule 14 b of the rules.

Even though the rule is as davidhawkes describes, the truth of the matter is that I have NEVER seen a ref call a miss on ANY player when snookers have been required, neither in the pro game or the top echelons of the amateur game.

So it is a glitch/bug as in the 'real' world a miss when someone requires snookers is as rare as rocking horse ****.
I often use large words I don't really understand in an attempt to appear more photosynthesis.

yeah I thought that too because I've never seen a ref call a miss at all once we get to the snookers required stage either to the player that requires them or to the player that has the frame in his pocket but if it was correctly applied then fine but I wasn't sure it was in my instance

The same thing happened to me on this game which really bugged me to the point I didn't want to play it anymore.. Fortunately I wasn't on the losing end but still it annoyed me..

It also annoys me the way you can pot a ball so easily from the cushion with no problem at all and screw back up and down the table about six times from being at the other end of the table lol... Slightly unrealistic shall I say..
what a frustrating, yet addictive game this is....
